I started attending games in '99, been a season tix holder ever since.
2001 was a special year, the beginning of the golden era for a lot of us. Watching Rohan to Reed that year was a treat. And to watch Reed set that record AT Bama was even sweeter.
Look, I really hope Boutte turns out to be a great one, and I hope 2021 sees LSU playing for the SEC title and more.
But if CEO let's the wheels come off and Josh Reed's record falls because of a meaningless season in a meaningless game with two of the worst defenses in football... Then, well, shite.

Rant, tell me not to worry.

No. Boutte stepped up when one by one, our top 3 receiving threats decided it wasn't worth playing anymore. I'm not judging those guys. They have their reasons for quitting, and it was perhaps the right move for two of them. I can, however, root like hell for the guys that decided to stick it out and save us from a losing season.

To Kayshon Boutte and the rest of them baws that fought until the end...

Nope.

I'm a big Reed fan, loved watching him play, but after this season, Saturday was exactly what we all needed.

Most long standing offensive records will be shattered in modern CFB.

Only reason I would be is because I watched him play for my hometown, representing my high school, when I was a kid.

But really I’m not. Boutte doing that as a freshman makes me thrilled for the future.

I can’t believe you’re bummed because a LSU guy broke a 19 year record of another LSU guy and both of these were in receiving from a school not known for prolific offense...smh

I am not bummed about it at all and I am a big Josh Reed fan. I am happy for Boutte. He deserves the record. Without his heroics we lose to Ole Miss and that is never good. Years from now I will remember sitting out in the rain in a near empty stadium watching that performance.

Why would anyone be bummed about someone breaking Josh Reed's SEC single game receiving yardage record eight years after it happened? Cobi Hamilton of Arkansas had 303 yards on 10 catches against Rutgers in 2012. Its in the SEC record book. Apparently a lot of media people, including The Advocate, didn't check out the facts and got it wrong.

No, records get broken. We should be happy the SEC single game receiving record still belongs to an LSU Tiger.

Kinda like how Guice broke Fournette’s record? I feel like LF7 is still the best RB to come thru LSU even if his records fell to a POS.

I think there is always a want for records to be broken in big games with real consequences but sometimes it’s just a day when Ole Miss couldn’t stop Boutte on a crossing route.

If you’re not dying over our defensive pride that game was a classic

Reed no longer had the SEC record so I’m glad the record is once again held by a tiger.

Not at all. I live not far from where Reed played in High School, and we went to LSU together. I never played against him, but friends have and raved about how awesome a RB he was. I left LSU early to join the Marines, as I was afraid I was going to lose my scholarship because I had trouble controlling my urge to screw everything instead of studying, and my dad wouldn't let me take a semester off and move back home ("better get your arse an apartment")... I just wanted to take one damn semester off to get my dick under control.

Anyways, I was very excited for Josh when he switched positions and started playing a lot. I was also able to see most games his JR year and it was exciting this local boy was leading the nation. Was happy when he got drafted by the Bills and took Peerless Price's place.

Now, all these years later, I work not far from where Boutte played, and followed him his SR year. The reason I am not bummed at all is because it was another local kid from Acadiana, representing our state well.

I hope Boutte shatters the records set by Jefferson and Chase as well. All that does is make LSU become WR U again.
