Especially in the food and service industry.
Making your pizza and burgers.
And employers know it... either they say: get your shift covered or come in... small front line managers don't want to deal with it.

Well no shite
The food/service/retail industry has conditioned employees over the decades that if you call in sick to work you’re a horrible person who is going to get fired your next shift. The fricking guilt trip they give you when you call in.

My pt office girl told me her son diagnosed with covid and his employer said come in... he dilievers pizza... she just became negative.
If you think these people are missing work after being unemployed during shutdowns, and now limited capacity..

Missing a week or 2 of work while feeling mild symptoms probably wouldn't have been such a big deal if the government hadn't kept them from being able to work for much of the year. Can't exactly work remotely in those industries and PTO doesn't save them since most of their income is tips
