It seems like either Coach O chooses the wrong players for these honored #s, or they place too much unnecessary pressure and expectations on these young men. Call me old school, but why doesn’t each individual player make a name for himself being the very best he can be representing the number given to him?

Why do the fans care tho? If the players like it and are willing to wear it why do we give a shite?

I think the number thing is overblown too, but if the players see it as an honor then it is what it is. Just because I think it's irrelevant doesn't mean the players don't take pride in it.

Chaisson and Cush in 2019 were as well.

That’s a team decision. Doesn’t impact game performance. I’d rather that than dumbasses wearing some chain, tire, shoulder pads or some other stupid crap after a play.

18 i could see at least staying since it's a leadership thing. 7 i think puts waaaay to much pressure on guys to be the playmaker.

#18 can be retired - there will never be another Jacob Hester
#7 is Tiger tradition and will always have significance - except that Texas Tech transfer kid

It's officially the offseason when the "numbers" get brought up.

LSU should stop the 7 and 18. The new players do not understand what it means. They just want to play football and go to the NFL.

I will say this, I wish the numbers would go to one player only. I'm sure there are multiple players who are deserving of wearing what the 18 represents, but if it's truly an honor, then give it to one kid.

I mean How do you argue with Delpit?

But still I think 18 should go back to o a team vote.
7 should be used as a recruiting tool.

#7 is a DB tradition and I think it should remain

#18 I'm indifferent but if the players like it, so be it.

It was never a team vote. It’s former 18’s and the coaching staff deciding who gets it.

Pretty sure it was for one or two seasons under Les.

#18 works just fine.

Giving #7 to people who haven't produced yet is the problem. You have to earn it in the field not at practice.

“#7 is a DB tradition and I think it should remain “

Chalk says hello...so does the original #7, Bert Jones
