What is the most recent movie made that instantly joined the pantheon of must watch holiday Christmas movies?
I was just thinking off the top of my head, I feel like it’s been awhile
Elf (2003)
Love Actually (2003)
The Polar Express (2004)
Even looking at more adult themed Christmas movies I thought about Bad Santa, also released in 2003
What do you guys think?

Four Christmases (2008)
I really like Klaus (2019) but time will tell on that one.

Eh.... it wasn’t a bad movie but not an instant classic IMO

Just Friends
Oh yea that’s a good one, similar vibe to Love Actually. It was made in 2005

The Northshore’s very own Santa Jaws (2018).

Family Man, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Bad Santa, Elf, Love Actually, Just Friends are the most recent crop of Christmas Classics I enjoyed

Anyone else think Polar Express is kinda creepy? Animated Tom Hanks never does it for me, for some reason. Just looks weird to me.

That era of motion capture animation simply does not hold up.

The technology looks better in the '09 motion capture Christmas Carol

I don’t think you can actually tell if a movie is a classic until it’s 10 years old.
Ex) I’ve watched Jurassic world 6/7 times but that movie is in no way shape or form a classic like Jurassic Park.

Four Christmasas
I recently watched Office Christmas Party. Great cast and while prob not a ‘classic’ I really enjoyed. Had a ton of lol parts.
Also love Family Man with Nic Cage

I’m going to define Classic as something that will be watched for multiple generations.
Most recent-
Polar Express. I’m not a fan, but I always make a point to ask my students what they are watching. Being Christmas, Polar Express is apparently popular with today’s utes.
Elf- it’s a fine movie. I’m not a Will Farrell guy, so I’ll likely never watch this on my own. But my millennial/z kids love it and so do Zoomers.
Christmas Vacation- an instant classic.
Christmas Story- not as instant, still required viewing.

It didn't look right at the time either. Don't get me wrong, very cool tech for the time but most people thought their faces looked creepy when it first came out.

Elf is from 2003?
Frick. For some reason I would have said like 2010-12 ish.
