Seriously did anyone put a hurting on em today? Hunted Venice this am and scratched out 14 with 4 people in the boat. Stayed in blind til 11 1st time we haven’t limited out on second split opener since I’ve been alive. Perfect weather and everything but still no damn birds. This shite is getting pathetic. DU and Delta need to be held accountable for lying straight to our faces about the duck population numbers...

At one of my blinds, there was 18 taken, but should have been more.

We didn't shoot, and only passed one legit opportunity. OTOH, we saw a field just across the road that was loaded. Ducks ere still spiralling in when we were leaving.

Numbers seen in KS and OK last week tell me, the numbers are right.

Years of degrading habitat, changing land use practices and ever increasing mechanized human activity in duck country in La - well those Coots have come home to roost! Add in the invasives like salvinia, cane bug and the number of storms this year.. that ain’t on du or dw. Or LDWF or Usfws

I’m thrilled to be able to contribute to this convo because I finally had my first duck hunt of my life this morning. I’m disappointed to be able to contribute to this convo because we didn’t take a single damn shot with 4 guns in the blind. So basically my duck hunting mirrors my fishing.

I didn’t duck hunt this weekend, but my dad and brother had 4 guests. Their weekend total was 65 picked up. All 6 hunters (2 blinds) picked up limits Saturday. Sunday they had lots in the air, but were blind shy so they struggled a bit but still got close to limits.

Dramatic difference from last 2 seasons where we just didn’t have birds in the area all season. But nothing like the glory days of the 1980s when I was a kid. Lease is in the Bayou Penchant area.
