Why? Have you seen our defensive backs play this year?

I want him gone.... I’m being a smart arse

I’m the biggest raymond hater on this board. He’s no Ron Cooper (creator of DBU)

DBs have looked good consistently until this year. Think it’s more likely a Pelini problem than Raymond

LSU hasn’t been dbu in years. Remember playing UCF, Texas, any team this year.

Our safety play has been atrocious this year, not going to excuse that. But we got a top 5 safety in 2020, have two more signed for 21 (+ 2 underrated 3*) and even though a lot can change we have two in the 22 class as well. That’s 5 TOP 5 safety recruits in 3 classes. So in a year where the defense as a whole has sucked there is no way you can single him out and say we should can him.

Weren’t both starting corners out plus a couple other 2nd and 3rd team DB’s having to play?

Not having any quality safety play has killed us more than the CBs solely imo. As good as sting and ricks are, they still are young as hell and expecting them to lock up man to man all game is a tough ask. Flott is a year away. Our safeties are just bad rn

Corey is pro LSU, and an above avg recruiter. Terrible X/O coach, terrible. That is why they brought in Busch.
Fact is the coaches that can recruit and know X/Os move up. Has Corey moved up? No, high paid recruiter. You need recruiters in college. The staff is a balancing act, just like roster management. O ain't exactly done great with overall management lately.

Remember Mannie Netherly have to play that game and Fulton was hurt. Texas was the only other bad game I remember. I also remember his cornerbacks shutting down D.k Metcaf, A.J. Brown, and Van Jefferson on that ole miss team a few years back.

Raymond should get created for a great recruiting class that he has help coordinate.

Obviously there is a lot more to it than him, but this is shaping up to be one of our best in years.

None of those guys were very good at ole miss. A lot of that was probably poor qb play though

I take some this back. Aj Brown was more productive than I thought at ole miss

Cooper was a better developer of DBs, but he was also lazy. Dude literally lied about going on recruiting visits that he never made.

Corey Raymond is slightly less as a developer but 500x better in every other area. He's a much better recruiter, he relates to the players extremely well, and he doesn't lie to his head coach regularly about his normal job duties.

Our DB play was fine until they decided signing one CB would suffice.

People need to get used to dbs getting thrown on, not long ago people would bash TM for letting a couple of people behind him all season.

Raymond and Busch dont make the scheme. They teach technique. Both dudes were here last year and it wasn't bad. Pelini however....scheming up trash all year.
