I submit that it is

Almost every detail is accounted for

It basks in male masculinity

It’s makes a man proud to be an alpha

It lets us know it’s OK to frick commie foreigners up when they step foot in AMERICA

And it reminds us of the true spirit of Christmas - it’s better to give a can of whoop-arse than to receive

Mcclane was pretty damn sensetive too. But yeah, well written movie, fantastic villain and support characters and we are gonna need more FBI guys.

Perhaps.

O love Die Hard With A Vengeance, bit it is a little disappointing they departed from the Christmas connection

Yes.

There are a handful of legitimate perfect films. Die Hard is one of them. It's the perfect action movie.

The Thing, Throne of Blood, Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo are some others.

I like how at the start of the movie somebody on the plane sees his gun and he's all "It's ok, I'm a cop" and they're like oh ok carry on.

What I like about Die Hard is that the action hero in the movie isn't some suped up body builder. He looks like he could be one of us - just a normal cop with normal problems who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He bleeds, he bruises, he has legitimate fears of never seeing his wife and kids again, and he is matching wits with a very competent antagonist.

It’s the quintessential action movie in my mind, has all the beats you look for and invented many of the tropes still seen today.

Plus Gruber is an all time great villain

If it ain’t perfect, it’s as close to it as a movie will ever get.

I can think of only one flaw, and that's the Harry Ellis character. Character works in theory but is too annoying on screen and its neither shocking nor fulfilling when he gets killed. Just felt like a waste of a couple minutes to me.

Everything else is about perfect.

For years I refused to watch Die Hard because the only thing I knew B Willis from was Moonlighting and thought there was no way I could buy him in an action film.

It's really the perfect action movie...plenty of action but still a real story...not over-the-top crazy action like The Raid or shite like that.

There's nuance, there's tension, there's buddy-cop thing going on who are in it alone...save the Feds finally who play the perfect, we're Feds, we know better than you, get out of our way.

Great villain, great ending, even punching the reporter, everything is perfectly balanced.
