I ate a Kolache in Houston today. It was a lil smokie in a dinner roll. I would rather eat a donut. Is there a kolachie place in Texas that is the best?

A bad kolache can ruin your opinion. Kolache Kitchen in NOLA is single handedly ruining the city's opinion on kolaches.

Those rancheros kolaches from kolache kitchen are amazing

Real kolaches are a pastry that holds a portion of fruit surrounded by puffy dough. These from some of the German bakeries in central Texas are amazing. The pig in the blanket kolaches you’re referring to are good, but not on the same level as the real thing.

You are describing Shipley’s shitty version. Head west my friend. Don’t stop til Weimar or Schulenberg.

Supposedly the old Main Street bakery in Rosenberg has good ones - if you’re out that way

All the Asians in the mobile area sell them. They make them with conecuh and they are heavenly.

Lucky Morning Donuts, Nicholson and Gardere, has a boudin kolache. It's an entire link of boudin wrapped in croissant dough. Best "kolache" in BR.
I think most of the donut shops around BR use Eckrich sausage. Bleh.

Another imported food for Nola to ruin. Sweet.

Kolache kitchen used to be amazing when it was just the location by LSU and then the added one on Essen. Once they opened in Nola they tried to force “creole” ingredients and ruined it.

They opened up like 2 years ago

Boudin tacos originated in TX. What a story Mark.

They started in Baton Rouge about 8 years ago. The OG was legit my favorite place to get breakfast.

That looks like a standard loaf totally gutted and stuffed. Might as well call the one handed BBQ shrimp at NO hamburgers and seafood a shrimp kolache.

I live across the bay in Daphne. Where do you get these? The only Asians over here to my knowledge cook take out with that same menu you see all across the country.
