I’ve noticed VolTiger13 has been awfully quiet to be this time of year. He’s usually pretty active on the recruiting front close to signing day.

I completely agree with your take, and this is how I’ve evaluated the situation for awhile. We desperately need OT talent. We need Leigh more than anyone. Then of course you can’t lose a 5* in-state DL to an SEC rival.

They have about 10 others between tigerbait/rivals/247 that says we are. Lots of them called Sage Ryan to LSU when everyone was saying Bama
Julie the rivals girl is pretty close with Smith - she gets his interviews first, did this documentary on his season, etc
She is extremely confident he signs with LSU

This isn't true. Drama sells subs as much as anything. What you're talking about now seems exactly like sub selling drama. As of today Maason (yeah, it's got two A's) is gone, but STAY TUNED FOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS!
These guys do make their livings off of this stuff, though, so ultimately it behooves them to be correct. So I always watch what the "experts" do (crystal ball picks) and not what they say (stir up drama and intrigue).
Also, ALL of the LSU 247 guys had Ryan to Bama. Only a couple of the Rivals guys has him to LSU.

I think Sage was gone until a last minute effort from Orgeron. Bama folks are rarely wrong somehow and they said they had confidence in getting Sage.
