You bastard!
LOL, the 500 NE and 470 NE are just too much. I could handle the 470 begrudgingly. The 500 just plain hurts and is unwieldily.
Used doubles are out there; but, as a southpaw there aren’t many options. I already have a 416 WBY in a Mark V and as I age the recoil and flinching is becoming an issue. I tried out Chapuis, Krieghoff and some used RH guns; but, they all hit right of center due to the cast of the RH stock.
The bruises from the 500 lasted for 3 weeks. 450/400 is the right answer. Hits them hard and recoils like a 375 H&H. Plenty enough for Buffalo; as I have no aspirations for elephant.
The Heym will be nice. Full sized frame. Bespoke LH stock with the Martini design. Splinter foreend with a Hungarian Oak stock, English finish, LH firing group, and bullino engraving by Mike Richter. Chris and the team at Heym have been a pleasure to work with.
