TJ’s body language is terrible.

Every tine the camera hits him he’s sulking. You have to own your mistakes and still motivate your team as the QB, not pout because you got taken out.

Typed this in 2018 following seeing Finley play St. Paul’s.

quote:

First the positives: His size Ball comes out quick from his hand Arm strength

Negatives: Accuracy- he is widely inaccurate. Receivers don’t help him much but he has a ton of improvement in this area

Demeanor- I watched this a lot from beginning until end of the game. He is lackadaisical out there. He never hustles on or off the field. He walks to the huddle from the sideline and does not hustle off. He also doesn’t not appear to be fiery in trying pick his guys up. Does not seem to be a leader. I saw him to be kind of Ho hum just sitting in the pocket. Almost like hey I got a scholly to LSU and I’m just going to take a stroll and sling this ball out there. Saw him on the RPO, run twice the whole game. He’s 6’7” 225 lbs. he should be able to plow kids and get 5 yds ever time to keep a drive alive. I didn’t see him want to initiate contact at all. Almost like he doesn’t want to get hurt. Definitely doesn’t appear to want to lay it on the line for his team.

Overall: Very raw. Has the tangible skills and physical traits. But can you change a kids’ attitude to have others want to got to war with him, i don’t know? I think there are kids with lesser physical talents that have the intangibles to lead that can do better.

Didn’t take it as sulking but concerned. I’m sure at 18 on the big stage you would have done much better.

Y'all read into this shite way too much. He is a true freshman QB with an awful O-line who had zero help from the OC or his running game (and he played a bad game on top of that).

He’s a baby who cannot have a roommate like every other player on this team. When I heard his parents made this request and O granted this request, I knew his leadership is not there. You don’t give a true freshman that status.

I'm sure Finley is a great kid. But nothing in his whole recruiting process made me think he was a quality starting quarterback in the SEC. Even his high school tape was mediocre at best. I wish him the absolute best of luck in football and life, but I just don't think his future is at LSU.

I know he is a freshman, but he needs to show some more maturity.

This is the first time i was able to watch him play... That was awful. I seen way more Overthrows, underthrows and throws behind the receiver than i would ever be comfortable with as a coach. It was truly awful. I think he only completed like 6 or so passes by half. Then i turned it off at the special teams turnover. To waste a defensive masterpiece like the one flott was having was very disappointing.
