I was introduced to the Turducken in New Orleans. And it wasn't Thanksgiving. Glenn at the Gourmet Butcher Block brought it by, and I had never heard of it or had seen one, and they put it in the booth, and it smelled so good that I had to taste it. And it was good. Then Thanksgiving came, and we got one in addition to the traditional turkey.

They were the best. Simpler times. Growing up I didn’t notice all the “Madden states the obvious” stuff, but these two were incredible. Simple times.

The absolute best. Loved them both for their respective abilities and then together as a team.

I know Madden is old as hell now but he’s been out of the spotlight for a long time now. Feel like once he was out of the booth you never heard from him or saw him again.

Haha, I had forgotten how entertaining it was to listen to Madden dissect turkeys. He and Summerall were a part of many Thanksgiving memories. Thanks gentlemen. You were and will always be the best broadcasting duo there ever was.

I was always amazed that Summerall was an NFL player. Most PBP guys are not. Maybe Strief looks up to him.

Turkeys are so big now they're breaking their legs. Big ole turkeys with broken legs. You gotta give them turkeys bigger legs.

Madden was the NFL's mad scientist.

I recall watching an old 80s nfl game between the bears and another team. A defender gave a vicious hit to a wr that would warrant a flag by today’s rules but Madden just said “that oughta wake him up”.

BTW, I love to listen when he talks about the 7 man sledge.

My favorite Thanksgiving Day game was Randy Moss rookie game against Dallas. I had him in fantasy that year. Everyone else was pulling for Dallas, and I couldn't contain myself when he scored.

Ate lunch at the same Cowboys media lounge table with Madden and Summerall a couple of times. He was the same way he is on broadcasts. Everyone came by to talk with him. He'd just ramble about whatever subject was brought up. Just a fun guy. He really wore blue jeans, and tennis shoes with no laces, with his coat & tie.. Bet he was great to play for.
