TJ makes good decisions

I don’t get nervous with his choices...still has room to improve but decision-making is solid and that is a huge deal.
I also was glad to see virtually no designed runs called for him...he is not a runner.

Agree with you on his decision making, and he has decent footwork and mobility in the pocket. But damn he just can't run at all. Wonder what his 40 time is.

If he just wouldn’t insist on hiding it from us.

Did you watch a different game?

He can’t look off his first receiver option. If that player isn’t open he is scrambling for an answer

He is a true freshman you know...

Lol. He’s a freshman thrown into a season with a very average O line

I do like that he is very aware where the LOS is. He is good at looking downfield and moving around just enough to make gold throws. The holding penalties hurt us today on ones where he moved around and made big throws.
I sometimes forget he doesn’t have the LOS line on the field like we have on the TV
Just wish he had a bit more touch. It’s always a fastball

Would be nice to have two quarterbacks with experience next season.

I would actually argue that his patience is what is more impressive. He isn’t rattled from playing in the big leagues and it has him more settled in his choices

Rohan Davey .5
When he starts putting up 500 yds against Bama will call him 2.0

Finley looks like Vince Young in the '03 season.

I agree on his decision making. Very impressive. That being said, in todays game you have to have a mobile qb if you want to beat the elite teams and compete for the playoffs. If we want to win a national championship the only qb currently on campus to get us there is Max Johnson. TJ and Brennan are no better than 10-2 or 9-3 qbs because of their mobility issues.

I’ve seen him look one way then turn and throw the other way. That still might be his first option, but at least it moves the safeties. Going through options is extremely difficult, and I don’t expect a freshmen to be able to do that.

Mac Jones could easily win the natty, and he’s not a good runner. Trask isn’t exactly nimble either. It definitely helps to be able to run as a QB, but I don’t think it’s a necessity

I've watched a lot of college football in my life and the QB's that progress past their first or second reads are very few and far between.

He had lots of time - they were rushing 3 a lot and their DLine was patchwork. Hopefully he can also make QUICK good decisions when we play the likes of FL and AL.

So you didn’t watch the game then? You missed the game winning touchdown pass and the multiple times he moved out of the pocket and found Gilbert for a first down.
