re: James Harden showing why the NBA is a complete farce of an organization....

It’s these short deals that cause this stuff. Baseball and Hockey players (even Mahomes) sign 12 year deals and lock themselves in. Teams can build around those guys and kids grow up with them. The NBA just doesn’t have that.
To be fair, the sport lends itself to it. As good as Trout is, he doesn’t have the leverage of an NBA star because he can’t single handedly change your fortunes like a Lebron or AD. It’s the only sport where you can go from dumpster fire to champions by adding 2 players. Gives them all the leverage.

NBA decided to feature players over franchises in their marketing
they created grown man AAU teams in the process

But yeah. They’re the real racists.
You people. I swear.
It's pretty sad that's what you took from his statement.

Oh, nevermind, you're just projecting as usual.

How about we have an NBA team of Guard, Magic Johnson, guard, isiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Dennis Rodman ? Let’s throw in Akeem the dream as a back up ? Might add John Stockton and Karl Malone OTB.
Let’s win six or seven titles in a row.
Everybody gets a trophy.
and they only need to play the Washington Generals. It's a match made in heaven. No need for all those other teams anymore.

This is fans and media’s fault. They have no one to blame but themselves. Too many fans and media act like only titles matter and disregard the manner that they are won. No title = failure. And then the same people get mad when guys team up.

Boom you’re playing this so wrong.

Someone wanting to decide where they work? What an a-hole! Let me know when your boss trades you for a bag of Fritos and a half empty Diet Dew and see if you still feel the same way.
lol.
If my boss had me on a two year contract (with a crap ton of guaranteed comp) and I stormed into his office demanding he facilitate a move to a competitor, how do you think that conversation would go?

The difference is you have no leverage. He does.

The NBA is unwatchable because a handful of elite players take their talents to super teams and win titles. Elsewhere, the other 23/24 other franchises are playing for a salary and just trying to make the playoffs.
I never saw MJ team up with Bird, Magic, worthy, and isiah but hey...that’s just me. Lebron has to do what he can to catch up to Michael.

Yawn. Been said 1000 times on this board alone in the last 6 months.

Mostly agree but feel like Fertitta is both an a-hole by nature and on the way to bankruptcy.

The difference is that he is under a voluntary contract that he signed. He made a commitment for a certain period of time to this team. I didn’t.
The other difference is that he’s an elite player who should be able to elevate a team, yet is whining to get sent elsewhere so he can win. I’m not.
So your comparison doesn’t work.

You had to use a player that is now retired as an example when I can name two in the past row years in the NBA who made demands to go to a specific team, three if you consider Paul George in the middle of the night
I would say it is far more prominent in the NBA than in any other league. I wouldn’t just stop that, it is a fact.
QFT
The nba is just full of them!

Well if you were good enough the competitor would just buy you out of your contract and you’d move on to them

Dude had all the tools to make a run. Maybe just maybe he's not champion caliber.

That depends. What do you do?
Can he fire you today and replace you relatively quickly with someone of approximate skill?
If this was some player on a 2-way contract this wouldn't have even made the news.
