If you trust coach pressers you’re a fricking chump.
They’re job isn’t to tell you the truth.
People cried about this shite with Les.
Part of his strategy to get the job and keep it was to be anti-Les in a lot of ways. He’s been the most honest and transparent coach with the media I can ever remember, sometimes to his detriment. I don’t think it was coach-speak necessarily. He loves the aggressiveness of an attacking 4-3, and with COVID, the low number of scholarship players, and limited practices with limited hitting, he probably really did like what he’d seen. He was asked a question and answered honestly.
Obviously, his assessment was wrong, very wrong. But he didn’t have some grand strategy—didn’t hold a presser just to make some grand proclamation about the greatness of the defense. He made a statement off the cuff. It was wrong. Get the frick over it. LSU fans can be so fricking stupid and petty. They’re still pissed at Les for saying one of his OL’s was the best he’d ever had, and that was like 10 years ago. What is legit is to be pissed at how terrible the defense has been so far, but a lot of you (not you, Sammy) have found a way to be more upset at the meaningless quote than the actual play of the defense. You know, the thing that actually matters.

Give him some time. He’s not Nick Saban.....no one is. If he can produce a championship contender once every three years that would be a great accomplishment. He brought LSU what we desired in very quick fashion. LSU doesn’t look good right now and I couldn’t be more upset about it. However, I’ll punt this year and give him a pass because of last year. At the very least he deserves that!

He was right about Hope and Pray

Hmmm, let’s evaluate your reasoning to NEVER trust a Coach O press conference again;
- Defense was better than any point last year.
Well, he was basing this off of the scrimmages against our offense, so in his eyes they looked like world beaters.
- TJ and Max were neck-and-neck.
Well from game performances they do look to be neck and neck.
- Whole team had Covid in September.
Truthfully they could’ve all had it.
- Damone Clark looked dominant and Cox was best player on the field.
Clark and Cox were dominant last year. He probably was looking at film from last year.

oe was the reason for last season . O got lucky. Paul Dietzel 1958, Saban and Miles with them we had N C'S BUT NEVER A FOLLOW UP SEASON LIKE THIS . This is the best set of QB'S I think we have had I like each one !!!
Coach O went 40-9 his first three years- That's a lot of getting lucky
True, Dietzel, Saban and Miles never had a follow up season like this, but they also didn't lose half of the starting team to the NFL and opt outs that were allowed due to the pandemic.
Even Saban would struggle with a depleted roster like ours as evidenced by his first year at Alabama when he lost 6 games.

This man brought us a National Championship, just 10 months ago. He deserves our respect and appreciation.
You are the worst type of fan, and part of the problem with this mindset.

learned a few years ago he was a liar when he said he would hire the best coordinators available and we got Matt Canada who nobody ever wanted to hire again as an OC.
Just a dumbass comment.
Canada had just won the Broyles award ,the one that joe brady won last year,ya know, for the best assistant coach in college football.

Les gave weird vague answers
O would give direct answers but he constantly lied.
When things are good though we never care or fact checks
When we lost to Troy we got 0 honesty. I am Still not convinced at all that Canada called the bowl games they didn’t show him ONCE.
And listen, I don’t care.

Who has ever topped last year you clown? It was the best college football season for any team ever. No team ever had that many wins against that many highly ranked opponents. LSU could win NC’s in the future and never be close to last year’s performance. That goes for any other school as well.

But until they increase the number of games or increase the playoff size, no one will top last year.
Even then, the odds of such a team playing the number of ranked teams from the start of the season, during the season, and at the end of the season are slim and none.

He was just trying to build up the D. Can't believe he meant that literally.

quote:not that the defense was better than last year for a start that was a dumb statement. I get coach speak but that was ignorant speak. The defense is coming along fine would have been a good statement. Let’s hope he’s “learned from his mistakes” on that one
What was he supposed to say

quote:
Whole team had Covid in September.
He said a lot of the team had COVID in like June or July. The SEC only provides a 90 day window for people who have previously tested positive regarding contact tracing rules. 4 guys on the team contracted COVID. With the roster minimums and us only having 68 scholarship players active as is (with Brennan hurt), it wouldn't take a whole lot of guys being exposed to bring the roster under 53. Having a few guys testing positive doesn't not equate to Orgeron lying about people getting it this past summer.

TJ and Max were neck-and-neck.
What, based on what we've seen the past 2 games, would lead you to think otherwise.

This was the exact quote. It sounds more like he didn’t know and was trying to give some kind of answer.
quote:
“I think, not all of our players, but most of our players have caught it,” Orgeron said during a video conference, adding later that he did not know the percentage of the roster that had tested positive.
“I think, hopefully, that once you catch it, you don’t get it again,” Orgeron added. “I’m not a doctor. I think they have that 90-day window, so most of the players that have caught it, we do feel like they’ll be eligible for games.

Some of you people really don’t know shite. If you want to knock O for settling for Ensminger and Pelini, go right ahead. Those were lazy hires. Canada may have been an a-hole and he hasn’t done anything significant since leaving here, but at the time he was fresh off winning the fricking Broyles Award and had been good in his two previous stops before Pitt.
If O should be faulted for anything there, it would be resume hunting without considering how Canada would fit with him and the rest of the staff. That was a huge problem and maybe could have been avoided. But the hire still looked like a home run when announced. Canada’s system was more innovative than what Miles and Cam ran and looked like it would fit our Pro-style roster. No one here was complaining at the time.
I’m not an O apologist, but griping about him going out and getting one of the hottest OCs at the time and labeling it as him lying is just moronic. Stick to O’s real flaws. There are enough of them to keep you busy.
