Ideas for rice?

I got a rice maker a while back and have been making it quiet a bit. I probably eat salmon and rice a couple times a week. I basically just add soy sauce to it, but was looking for other ideas to spice it up a bit or add some variety. Any tips or recommendations?

Make it with chicken broth instead of water.
Add cashews and/or shelled edamame.
Add fried egg.
Experiment with different types of rice. I love basmati. Jasmine is good too.

You can add things into the rice.
I did one the other day that was the normal rice:liquid ratio, but I added Better Than Bouillon (chicken base) to the water and a drained can of corn. When finished, I seasoned with salt and pepper, squeezed half a lemon into it, and did a few shakes of shaker-Parmesan.

I enjoy a green rice w/ chives, parsley, cilantro, and lime. Saffron rice is good, too, if you use good saffron.
Try other varieties of rice -- red, black, purple, etc. I make a nice autumn salad with butternut squash, red/green onions, cranberries or golden raisins, black rice, pumpkin seeds, pomegranate seeds, pecans. Dress with a citrus-herb or balsamic-herb vinaigrette.

Sauté some onions, garlic, and peppers in a skillet and add in some Chorizo that you have browned. Add the rice and a little chicken broth.

A drop of red boat fish sauce in your rice, as nasty as it sounds, makes a big difference.

Side dishes:
1. Rice with butter, little salt, lot of fresh ground black pepper.
2. In a skillet add half stick of butter. Let melt then add one large onion chopped small. Cook onion till edges turn slightly brown, add more butter, add as much pepper as you want then add the rice. Salt to taste.
3. After adding more butter to onions add an 8 ounce can of drained green peas. Heat the peas then add the rice.
Bonus: leftover spaghetti sauce and meatball over rice.........no cheese.

this sounds really good, would using chicken broth instead of plain water be too much?

Green rice? Is that bamboo rice? Cook at same as jasmine rice? I do use a bouillon cube sometimes with it.
Groceries are a challenge here so I try to stock up on pantry items as much as possible when I am in town. I am about to be in town for about a month which is why I was posting this. Wanted to get a few ideas on what to stock up on while gone. I am going to try crushed nuts and dehydrated fruits with it as well.

Chum salmon makes excellent fried rice.
Other than that I do the same thing you do...salmon and white rice with soy sauce it's like a alaskan staple
