No person should be able to make that much.

It’s not even the fact that he has the wealth that he does, in the aggregate. It’s what he does with it.
That’s why I find it pathetic when so many “conservatives” simp for him.

Or conservatives just don’t think we should tell other people what they have to do with their money or take it from them.
I’d rather be a “simp” than a jealous bitch.

Which explains why our society is the way it is in many facets. Congrats?

How is it jealousy to think that someone should not work to weaken societal foundations? That's a weird flex. Sounds like you're coping to me.

They pay more federal tax in a month than you will in several lifetimes.
I should hope so.
Keep in mind I didn't say they pay zero taxes. But is it their fair share? They have so many loopholes and ways to offset federal taxes that they pay only a small percentage of their revenue in taxes. IIRC they average ~10-12% (that's the estimates at least)

You’re welcome to try and explain this one if you want.

He can't. I've asked others who made similar claims to expound on this thought as well. They can't explain it either because they don't know what the frick they're talking about.
They don't understand NOLs or stock comp deductions or anything at all related to tax law. They're just assholes parroting shite from a single NYT article they skimmed over while eating cheese toast, shirtless on the couch.

Amazon has become so large and powerful that they break the usual norms of market dynamics. They can do things to stifle competition that they shouldn't. For example, they wanted to buy out diapers.com but the owners refused. Amazon then sells their own diapers at a loss and bleeds diapers.com out until the owners are forced to sell at even less than originally offered.
That's smart business.

He figured out how to sell convenience, even if it costs more and now people are hooked. Wayfair and Walmart are doing the same thing, but doubt Amazon loses much share anytime soon.

My problem with his is that he openly advocates for higher taxes on corporations to stifle any and all competition because he knows damn well his own company won’t pay them.
Conservatives want one fair low tax rate for all companies, not a whole bunch of exceptions that only a few get.

That's smart business.
Offering cheaper prices while still running a profit is one thing, but offering cheaper prices temporarily while not operating a profit (see NOLs that are being used now) for the sake of running a business out is anti-competitive in my eyes should be met with antitrust regulation. When the business is put out, the prices are increased again, now with one less competitor in the market.
Amazon gets compared to Walmart a lot. At least Wal-Mart ran/runs a profitable retail business that the tax laws were built for. Amazon using Cloud profits to cover retail losses are not addressed fully in today’s tax laws; hence Amazon doesn’t have to pay a fair share. They are a conglomerate. There needs to be more competition with Amazon (other than Target and Wal-Mart); currently the tax laws are not allowing that.

Most of his net worth is due to his ownership of Amazon stock.
For the people who are appalled that someone is that rich, what's your solution? Government confiscation of company stock? I don't see how that would be legal and is not something I'd ever support.

I'm not advocating for that solution per se, but how is it so different than confiscation of money via taxes?

You mean besides one being something earned and one being unearned? Or the fact that one is a definitive value and the other is a variable value? Or that one would lead to government ownership of the company itself?
Besides those, how is it different?

Because taking someone’s money for no reason other than them having a lot of it is a dangerous and slippery slope and completely flies in the face of the whole “land of the free” thing.
