Want a night away from the hurricane and craziness and just want a good meal.
Open to pretty much anything.
I haven't lived out there in 12 years so I'm not hip to the current scene at all.

Nino's, if you can get in there. They're usually booked up.

My wife and I had a great meal at Portobello's in Bocage the other night. They completely renovated the inside during the COVID shutdown. The old chef from Ruffino's is over there now.

Louisiana Lagniappe is always fantastic.

Solera - it's a new Spanish restaurant (the only authentic Spanish restaurant in Baton rouge)

Fresh fish, great drinks, excellent service. It's somewhat upscale, but won't break the bank. I went for the first time last month and have been back every week since.

I second this!

Had dinner at Solera two times in the last week and it was very good.

The highlights:
Croquetas de Jamón
Braised pork cheeks
Hanger Steak and frites
Steak flat bread
Pretzel bread pudding

Nice selection of Spanish wines at a reasonable price.

My only complaint is the selection of music. Autotuned crap that gave my ears aids. Step up and play some real Spanish music.

Are you looking for expensive or casual? There have been a lot of new restaurants open in the past 12 years. Some of the old ones are still quite good though.

I second the vote for Eliza.

The food is really, really good, and the bar is not too bad either.

I don’t know about Parrain’s, but the snide comment about La Lagniappe could not be any farther off base.
La Lagniappe is one of, if not THE, most consistent meal in town. They’re not much on ambiance, but they know what they do, and they do it very well...
For 20 years or more, I guess.

Had LA Lagniappe for the first time in probably 10 years and it was great. And they’re taking reservations during Covid

Butter parm crab claws
The richest dark roux duck gumbo
Sensation salads
Two beautiful pork chops
Seafood stuffed bell peppers
Oysters lagniappe
Stuffed potatoes all around
Creme brûlée
Pumpkin cheesecake
Bottles of Cabernet

Great experience
