This is an older image, but that is a complete ring of lightning in the eyewall. That only happens in the strongest of storms.

I don't know if this is the correct term for it... but that "inflow tail" that forms is 1 of the scarier looking things I think I've seen in a storm

You don't see a perfect eye and a solid ring of pink very often. Iota is a beast of a storm

Has that ever happened before where 2 major hurricanes hit the exact same spot within a couple weeks?

Odds of that happening have to be somewhere around the odds of winning the powerball. Especially in CA where they don’t really get a lot of landfalls

Glad this didn’t shift north some, my cousins and grandfather are in Cozumel right now

Yet another incredible example of inner core lightning with a very powerful hurricane, this time being featured on the latest category 5 hurricane and on record. #Iota LINK

Two weeks apart and ended up nearly at the same spot for landfall.

No offense, rds, but I hope we don't see your threads very often next season.

The clock just reset to 20 minutes after hitting zero. Might be some bullshite loop from a random storm

Yeah it didn’t seem very strong leading up to that.
