Anyone here own a Sx4? What are your general thoughts on this gun? I found a used 20g compact model w/24" barrel I might go look at. Need to buy something for my oldest to use this duck season.
I've never shot or owned a Winchester shotgun.

Looked at them for a turkey gun. Heard good reviews. Ended up with a youth model 1187 that I absolutely love. Have killed 2 with it and will never buy another 12 ga

I shot one all season last year. Weekend warrior in a duck hole. No issues at all

I have sold a few so far. Never heard a bad thing. They work well for the money.

Same 'guts' as the Browning, correct?

SX3 here. I love mine. No issues with it at.
How old is your kid? My 14 year old handled my SX3 well last year. He has grown 6" since last season. I would get a 12 gauge compact with a 26" barrel if the kid is younger. You can always change the stock down the road.

I have a SX4 12GA 3.5 Mossy Oak camo version and love it. No issues so far. I have had for a year.

Bought my son one. I like it better than my beretta a400 extreme

Shot one all last season. Probably went through 4 boxes of shells for duck and never had any problems. It shoulders well. Just took me getting used to a semi auto. Kept jerking on the sum bitch after every shot.

little different configuration as the Browning Maxus, but it is a gas operated gun. It makes you pay attention to how "dirty" your shells are. The basic black SX4 and Beretta A300 may be the best bang for buck in duck guns.

If you need a red dot Academy has the Burris Fastfire 3 on sale for $199. Bought one last week. I have 2 and they are great.

I got a Romeo5 from chatrabbit. He was dealing with a celeb so I was just browsing the OB while waiting

I own an SX4 and love it. Handles well and cycles like a machine.

Don't know anything about the SX4.
Bought my son the SX3 about 7-8 years ago for competitive skeet shooting and for hunting, and it has been a great gun.
Took about 70 rounds to break it in, though, with lots of faulty ejections of shell casings. But after that, no issues at all. Rock solid gun.

Been shooting an SX3 for about 4 years. Love it. My son bought a SX4 last year based on my experience. Both have been great. We go through about 3-4 cases per year. I’ve had more expensive guns, but they weren’t better than these.

I do not bring it out often for one simple reason
The position of the safety is fricking horrible and when you have a left handed potential user it makes things a pain in the arse. You have to swap the safety to the correct handed person otherwise your trigger finger rides it and its uncomfortable or will engage.
Honestly no clue what the frick they were thinking there
Put it behind like Beretta does. This is why one is Beretta and one is Winchester.
Now when set right its a great gun. Just not THE overall gun.
