Why NBA “Wokeness” is a Hypocrisy Many Can’t Stomach

Americans Are Losing Sight of What Fascism Means
LINK
The NBA cannot possibly lecture Americans on inequality while turning a blind eye to these abuses in a place where it’s bowing down in the name of a yuan.
quote:
Many Americans who brand Trump and his allies as fascists are paying too little attention to abuses in Hong Kong and cultural genocide in Xinjiang.
quote:
The Chinese regime’s totalitarianism is still more evident in Xinjiang, where the sterilization of Uighur women is systematic, with the intent to decrease the Muslim population. Chinese companies have made beauty products for export with what appears to be the human hair of Uighurs in internment camps. Chinese authorities have organized the “Pair Up and Become Family” campaign, in which more than 1 million party cadres have been dispatched to live in Uighur households, monitoring families’ every move, with new male “relatives” sleeping with Uighur women and forcing marriage, while many of their actual male relatives are detained in the camps. There is another name for this, and it’s rape.
quote:
What the Chinese Communist Party is doing is not unspeakable. It can and should be spoken about, however difficult that may be. Moral clarity requires us to seek both accuracy and proportion. Anything less does a disservice to those who have actually struggled, fought, and died against fascism. If Americans, even for just a moment, could look beyond Trump, they might realize that another world—one where fascism is a living, breathing thing—awaits them.

I think It’s beyond turning a blind eye, we almost all care more about our own circumstances than those in another country.
The issue is that they’re beating the drum for BLM as an organization while bending over backwards for China’s money. It’s not just turning a blind eye, the re censoring their coaches/gms etc... so they don’t pass off China.

Let me reiterate:
If you can read that and your only response is “melt, bitch,” you are a truly morally corrupt individual.

Guys making tens of millions of dollars that are given extreme social privileges and face absolutely zero problems unless they go back to their gangbanging ways complaining about being slaves is the real fun part of the NBA.
I can't watch it because I cant stop laughing that people like Kyrie Irving are making more than minimum wage on a pity job yet he has it so tough in life.

Most of my friends who complain about the NBA China connection have homes full of Chinese goods. Until they make at least a good faith effort to avoid these I see them bowing down to the yuan as well and will simply roll my eyes at their complaints.

Look , this is the More Sports Board. These are mostly people who can't even find China on a map, think a Communist is something that just annoys old white guys so therefore it's good, never heard of a "Uighur" before today and could care less if they are in reeducation camps and just want to watch Bouncy ball shooty-hoops and spout platitudes like "end systemic racism" and "black lives matter". Any suggestion that the NBA is selling out American values to China for money doesn't interest them. They are hoopy-hoop couch-sitters first, Americans somewhere way after that.

Quite the mental reach you’re willing to make to justify your point of view.

I see you still bothered.

Imagine that, found a salient article that I thought bore discussion.

Not sure why NBA players are getting so much heat compared to Nike and other shoe companies who are using Uighur slave labor in their factories to manufacture their products.

Because NBA players love to tell people like me how morally superior they are and how horrible of a human being I am.

Hmmm. My point of view is China is an existential threat to the US. My wife and I have gone out of our way to avoid Chinese goods as much as possible for 20 years. From a practical POV it is near impossible to avoid Chinese goods especially when looking at the source components but we do the very best we can despite the extra cost and when Chinese goods are impossible to avoid completely like with computers and phones we use them until they are no longer functional prior to replacement.
I think the mental gymnastics are not ours but those that pick and choose their fight in order to justify THEIR view.

It must be exhausting to be that much of a dickhead.
Newflash: your own country is spying on you and stripping your rights as fast as possible. But yeah, china is the threat.
