I had tremendous hopes for Clark, but he's just not getting the job done. His tackling, angles and his ability to shed off OL is non-existent. On the other side, Cox has also been very disappointing. For him to be a 3-time All-American at North Dakota State, I was expecting a lot more production from him. It's almost like Clark and Cox are identical - neither like to be physical at point of attack, horrible tackling technique, poor gap responsibility and neither has the nastiness and attitude to be a dominant LB in the SEC. I think we got spoiled with White and Queen and it's time to give some of the younger guys a shot because these two haven't shown they are SEC caliber.

I would like to see Sampah get some action. He isn't ready to start though.

Give Carter a chance. Not permanent but give him 10 plays a game in short yardage situations. Similar to a nosegard LB. Hey, I just invented a new position.

I'm not nearly as down on Cox 19 as Clark 18. 19 has shown he can shed some blocks, shoot gaps and meet the rb at point of attack at times. He seems like a mediocre SEC level lb (maybe the best we have right now) but with 18 you're right he always gets taken out of the play by fat linemen if he hasn't already done so by poor vision ,a bad angle, or soft tendencies. Plays with zero physicality and refuses to make a play at the MLB position (the most important position for stopping the run).

How do we know he isn’t ready to start. Have you watched Clark?

I feel like Cox is getting better. I feel like Clark is regressing. Cox is having to try and fill both LB positions with Clark in the game. If we had a good dominant LB, then I think it would have helped Cox grow into being a SEC LB. But if he's the best we have then we're in trouble.

All American at NDSU is much different than LSU

Cox has looked way better than 18. 19 is often confused for 18 so he gets blame. Cox seems to be where he suppose to be when he suppose to be.

Clark needs to play special teams

Clark is about as bad as I have ever seen. He has no business playing, much less starting.

LSU needs more speed at the position; Clark and Baskerville aren't fast enough to play sideline to sideline. Most of our LBs are naturally 235+. 4-3 MLB/WLB LBs are usually undersized because they have to cover so much ground. Take LBs like Deion Jones, Duke Riley, Fred Warner, LaVonte David that have excelled in the 4-3 scheme.

I feel like LSU has a bunch of KJ Wrights flying around.

Cox was fine last night. Big runs seemed to be away from him. Baskerville seemed to do better when in at the middle spot for Clark. He actually attacked the hole when needed to. He is small so could have trouble shedding blocks.

Nothing wrong with Jabril Cox. They were in coverage a bunch last night, which is a big weakness for Clark. He's a pure run thumper.

They took shite angles on edge runs last night, for sure. But that's pretty easy to fix.

Clark literally takes himself out of position. On one end run, he busted inside, got caught up, and abandoned the edge. He simply lacks any instinct, and it’s not worth even discussing his lack of coverage skill.

neither seems to have the sideline to sideline speed to get to the corner and keep runners from getting around the outside. We got so spoiled with guys like White, Queen and D Jones who could get to the outside and run down runners. Doesn't help that our DE's crash inside so often, especially Ali Gaye. They don't help with containment at all.

Normally I'd agree w/ you, but if it hasn't been fixed this far into the season for an upper classman then it's no longer an easy fix.

Actually, I think they both have good straight line speed. For example, in the second half, after Clark failed to get to the edge because he took a bad angle and got caught up by blockers, he ran down the RB from behind when he was going down the side line. Good speed is nullified by poor angles, inability to shed blocks and assignment confusion.

Has Devonta Lee seen the field at all this year in any capacity?

Clark should be benched he’s really really bad. Cox hasn’t done much better. I thought Baskerville played ok yesterday.

There are so many plays where Clark can jump in and help tackle and he just runs next to the play instead, just following along jogging, it's insane.
