Ate lunch there today. It's literally in a case (a frame) with a plaque explaining it

You should absolutely do that. They welcome tributes to those who served. IMO the best place to be featured is by the bathroom. I've waited many minutes and sent many prayers to the families of the lost soldiers honored there.

He has WW2 items displayed on the wall. There's a Japanese flag hanging right next to it. They have military items every where in there. Think the owner was a former Marine

The irony here is the those that are yelling the loudest about it are the same one who thinks it is ok to kneel before the Flag that our boys died defeating it.
You know how they say that "Old Glory is just a piece of cloth."
Funny how one flag represents so much and the other is just a piece of cloth.

Everyone on their Facebook page who wants them to take it down is full of piercings and from out of state.... also they're all wearing masks.

How is honoring America and it's soldiers "cheesy"?

It's a little misplaced now that the military is an all-volunteer, professional force. That was never envisioned by the people who originally risked their lives to make this country free, and it has huge drawbacks. Check out what draftees in Vietnam said about "lifers" (i.e. career Army / USMC people) for example.

I was going by the facebook picture someone posted on the first page. If someone passes by and sees nazi flags without context, at some point there will be people who react to it.
But looking at the pictures in that link, the food looks good as hell.

There literally could not be a more misguided perspective. Used to live in Slidell and ate there just last week.
Southside is perhaps the most USA loving, patriotic restaurant in America.
It's almost a war museum to itself. The Jap flag next to the Nazi flag was taken from the Jap HQ and signed by the Japs who surrendered (I think that's the story).
FTR, it's also am amazing place to eat. Grilled YFT and onion rings FTW!
Luv me some Southside.

Where is it?
On Pontchatrain Dr. Get off I-10 on Old Spanish Trail. Turn left (south) onto Pontchatrain. About 1/4 mile down on your left (just past the Walmart Market.
All this stupidity about Southside agitates me. It's an amazing restaurant. They honor soldier after soldier who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
If you make it, you'll enjoy it.

But that's basically impossible based on the front of the restaurant.
The people that posted this took special care to make it look like this was a focal point. They are your typical dims looking to be offended and manufacturing racism. They did this on purpose.

But if he does good business and he isn't worried about the potential customers it could cost him then it really doesn't matter
Except it won’t cost him anything except some blue haired moron SJWs that can’t tell a military display of the US valor from some stupid neo-nazi shite.
And no one really wants their woke business anyway. Guarantee he comes out smelling like a rose here.
Lots of patriots wanting to support him, and less smelly proggies.

Next time I drive in from Houston I'm going to plan to go there. Would be a great thing to take my son to.

I mean, the owner may also want to think about context when hanging a nazi flag in his business.
“South side Cafe and WW2 memorabilia display” might not be a great business model
Fertilizer. Old place was packed. Burnt down after Katrina. Rebuilt. And it was packed last weekend. Same motif.
Place is awesome.

I didn’t imply offense or lack thereof.
I said it’s a questionable business model to serve eggs with a side of nazi memorabilia.
That so many people think I’m out of my mind for having that opinion has me second guessing a lot of assumptions

Did you eat paint as a kid?
Maybe catch a brick to the noggin?
This isn’t some dude with wall to wall swastikas, deaths heads and first editions of Mein Kampf.
It’s all sorts of memorabilia, from all sorts of wars, honoring all sorts of American heroes.
The Nazi flag was CAPTURED by an American soldier.
This would be like capturing a Roman Eagle. It demoralized the enemy. Possession of one is a sign of conquest.
People that think the simple presence of a swastika means Nazi shite are morons.
So, are you a moron?
