for you guessed it, Anti racism:

quote:

"This is part of our honest reckoning as a school district," San Diego Unified School District Vice President Richard Barrera told a local NBC affiliate. "If we're actually going to be an anti-racist school district, we have to confront practices like this that have gone on for years and years."

District officials evidently believe that the practice of grading students based on their average score is racist, and that an active effort to dismantle racism necessitates a learning environment free of the pressure to turn in assignments on time. As evidence for the urgency of these changes, the district released data showing that minority students received more Ds and Fs than white students: Just 7 percent of whites received failing grades, as opposed to 23 percent of Native Americans, 23 percent of Hispanics, and 20 percent of black students.

Under the new system, students will not be penalized for failing to complete assignments, and teachers will give them extra opportunities to demonstrate mastery of subjects. The grades they receive upon completion of a course will no longer reflect their average test and assignment scores. "Common grading practices such as averaging a student's grade over time can disadvantage students who started the year behind grade level and can discredit the progress a student has made, experts have said," noted The San Diego Union Tribune.

Equity over equality. It strikes again.

The soft racism of low expectations. Nothing says this than dumbing down the system to accommodate certain races and ethnic groups.

This is going to transfer very well to the working world.

nothing says "removing biases" like creating an even more subjective system

quote:

The new approach—which is rather confusingly written—still includes letter grades, but these will reflect student's "mastery" of the subject rather than their completion of homework, quizzes, and tests. What constitutes mastery is left unexplained. Grades "shall not be influenced by behavior or factors that directly measure students' knowledge and skills in the content area," which sounds like a recipe for highly subjective grading.

what could go wrong?

The biggest (among many) glaring problems with this is long as we have a private business sector/capitalism like we still mostly do...this won't fly when these kids get out in the real world.

Its sink or swim.

Oh yeah, this will certainly not, in any way, exacerbate that problem

Jesus fricking Christ.

Because giving them less responsibility and accountability and simply allowing them to move on and on with no regard for actual learning is going to help them become positive members of the community... These people will stop at nothing to virtue signal.

Ten years from now they'll be suing the school district for passing them along despite the fact that they are reading at a first grade level and their math skills are even worse.

Simply cannot make this stuff up...

So, if a kid is stuck at a 1st grade reading level in 5th grade but advance to a 2nd grade reading level before the end of the year, then he should get an A?

Or is it just going to be colors...

Naturally the retards making these decisions always fail to see how basically saying "minorities aren't smart enough or capable to meet deadlines or complete assignments, therefore we won't make them" is more racist than what they claim is wrong with the current setup.

So when these kids inevitably get passed by in the real world because they lack skills due to this coddling, what will be the cause?

(Hint: it’s racism)

My kids school (and many others here) do not give A thru F

They give them Es and Gs or some dumbshite

You should hear the answers the teachers give me when I ask them "but why?"

Their rationale is beyond retarded. They take away the requirement to turn in homework or assignments either on time or at all but they also think that those kids will be prepared to prove a “mastery” of the subject. Essentially, there’s nothing stopping these kids from entering college at a 2nd grade reading level.

Allowing black kids to fall behind is actually much MORE racist than the system that holds them to the same standards as others. That's what is so fricked up and they can't fricking see it. It's like these "leaders" are trying to keep them dumb and in line. "We will make things easier for you. We will take care of you forever. Vote for us."

I would have actually succeeded in auch a system. I think it's stupid to make someone do homework on subjects they have mastered.

I would always get a high A first semester and fail second semester to average out with a C because I hated doing homework on stuff I already knew. I also had shitty parents that never checked if I did my work.

I won the calhoun county math tournament in 2002 with a current grade of 52, because they used first semesters grades to decide who was

Getting shite done is as much about preparing you for a job than knowing the material itself. You sound like a piece of shite.
