Sounding like DH may not be in play until 2022 for the NL
Wouldn't that potentially drive his price down?
Ozuna is a bad left fielder, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if we started him there for a year and he still gave us his production at that plate.

I'm going into the offseason probably taking for the granted the fact that Ozuna won't be back. We wanted Donaldson resigned as well, and AA made chicken salad out of what seemed like a chicken-shite situation (for the most part). Ozuna is going to make a fine addition to some AL squad, and I won't be upset about it. It's the way things work. We used him, and he used us.

Ehhh Donaldson and Ozuna are two completely different situations.
Donaldson was a good addition for us, and I was bummed that we didn't even negotiate with him at all, but there were ways to go and spend money and get similar and/or better production, which we did with Ozuna.
What Ozuna gave us this past season, there's really no chance we can ever get anything better than that and anything production similar to what he provided is going to cost just as much, if not more, as bringing him back.

Ask Freddie to move to 3rd, Riley in left, Ozuna to 1st?

While we’re at it let’s put Flowers at full time catcher with D’Arnaud at 2nd. Move Ozzie to SS and put Dansby in RF. Put Ender in CF. Send Pache back down to Gwinnett and move Acuña to 3rd base coach.

Can't believe they are doing away with the DH in 21.
Maybe this helps with resigning Ozuna, but probably just as likely he ends up in the AL. Not sure we could stand a whole year of him in the field

For those who are down on Riley, check this stat out:
Freddie - 42.5
Riley - 42.9
This is the percentage of hard hit balls for the season. IOW, Austin was squaring the ball up but hit into a lot of bad luck. That tends to even out the following year.
Patience, folks.

frick Alex, Snit and Liberty.
Can't believe these guys are just going to waste the talent this roster has.
This is a dumb take.

Everyone worrying about payroll need to remember that all other 29 teams are in the same boat; they will all lose significant revenues due to no fans and the decreased schedule. The Braves aren't alone here.

Riley has had a nice start. The kid is just getting started and plays a good 3rd base.
Exactly. People need to chill and look at the bigger picture here.
Riley needs to be given a chance to develop, at the ML level. He doesn't even have a full year of playing time w/the big club yet and people are already wanting to throw him out w/the bathwater. I mean Jesus Christ....
It took Dansby the better part of 3 years for things to start clicking, and we have Chipper to thank for that. He revamped Dansby's swing prior to last season and we have seen the results. He is working w/Riley as well. And let's remember like I pointed out earlier, Riley hit a lot of hard hit balls right at people this year. That stuff tends to even out the next year.
Patience.

I think Riley will be fine. I actually like our lineup and whether it will have ozuna or a discount bat, i think the development or our guys will be enough to justify a post season run. What we really need and have to prioritize are the arms. We badly badly badly need a veteran #2 workhorse. Someone consistent. Someone that can be what Tim Hudson was for us all those years.

You can't give up on him yet

Yeah, between the two Pache is gonna be the much better player than Waters IMO.

That dude is not the answer at 3rd.
LOL. Dude hasn't even played a full season's worth of games and you and others are ready to throw him out w/the bathwater. I mean Jesus Christ.. He has to have a chance to develop on the ML level.
You probably said the same thing about Dansby, also.

Acuna, at the lead off spot, really killed us this series
His wrist was not right the entire PS.
He gets a pass, much like Freddie last year.

Finally someone who is realistic about Riley instead of just giving up on him.
We need to do all we can to resign Ozuna, he was the cog in the engine and the role model for the Latin players. Freddie is on record that he'll defer some money on his extension(and he will get extended) in order to keep Marcel here.
I will disagree about getting a #2. Soroka will be back(he's ahead of schedule), he's the ace, Fried is the unquestioned #2(he'd be the ace on most other teams), Anderson a very strong 3 w/#2 stuff, and Wright's bad start in Gm.3 aside, I feel he turned the corner late in the year. I wouldn't mind getting a veteran innings-eater for the back-end, but our rotation sets up nicely for the next few years.
If we had had big Mike, we're playing tonight IMO. Losing him hurt bad.

I’d love to be wrong. Cheap arse Liberty will use loss of revenues due to COVID as the scapegoat
Every team is going to lose revenue, and a lot of it, due to COVID. Not just the Braves.
This is gonna be a very quiet OS across baseball, the revenue just won't be there. Get ready for it.
