Restarting WoW

Just loaded up WoW for the first time in about 10 years.
My old character (a human warrior) is still around. He’s been squished to level 30 though.
What’s the best area to level up? I haven’t played in so long I’m pretty much re-learning the game from square one.
I can go research, bur any input on what kind of warrior build is good for leveling?
He’s really geared for tanking since that’s all I ever did in raids back in the day...so that’s all I really know.

Pre patch literally just launched this past Tuesday. You'll probably want to Google "leveling in shadowlands" to are the changes.
Apparently you can just pick an expansion and level to 50 in whatever expansion you want. IDR the exact details.
Good time to come back, the new expansion should release in a month or so. You can get used to all the new classes changes and you won't be behind everyone.

Just play classic. Retail is solo ez-mode.

Just start over. Seriously

Is there a way to get the current wow and all expansions bundled?

World of Warcraft No Longer Requires Game Purchase, Just Active Subscription
This is somewhat old info as BFA is now over and Shadowlands is coming out. But I think the same premise applies. You dont have to buy every expansion anymore.
I think if you buy bfa and slands you're good to go. I couldn't find more info on the quote site because I already own every expansion.

Up until now, you’ve unlocked access to World of Warcraft by first buying a copy of the base game plus expansions, and then paying for a monthly subscription. The typical fee has been along the lines of $40 for base game plus all released expansions up to and including the current, except when a brand-new expansion was about to drop, as is currently the case. To simplify this, let’s use numbers. Ordinarily, with Battle for Azeroth (WoW’s 7th expansion) about to be released, we’d expect WoW + Expansions 1 – 6 to sell for a discount (say, ~$15-$20) while WoW + Expansions 1-7 would sell for $40 – $50. As of now, that’s changed. You can access the entire base game and everything up through the end of Legion for just $15, and need only buy BfA when and if you decide to push further into the game.

People who think retail is easy mode compared to classic aren't pushing high keys or raiding at the highest level.
It's not even close.

Retail undoubtedly has a more technically difficult endgame raiding/pvp scene, but that’s about it.
On the other hand, retail falls laughably short for leveling difficulty, gold grinding, and even dungeon difficulty at times.
To be honest, it’s hardly fair to compare them anymore. They’re two very different games at this point.

Can you theoretically solo the way to max level?

I got tired of all the running around in classic. You'd go to one zone, do 4 or 5 quests, then go all the way across the world to do 5 more, then go back.

The running back to the quest giver, only to get another quest just beyond where you were, was annoying as frick.
I’d also rather have my balls in a vicegrip than do the Classic kill quests that involved loot drops.

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I've been playing both classic and a trying to get into retail. Prob gonna quit once this covid shite is over with--just something to pass the time while stuck at home more than usual. Not really much to do in retail that's worth your time until Shadowlands drops.

I just leveled up a new character last week to test the leveling process. Took about 12 hours of playtime to get to 50, but that was with me rushing.
If you have Chromie time available, run Exile's Reach to 10, Cata time warp for 10 to 40, then current time in BFA from 40 to 50.

Unless you are still leveling or gearing up a ton for SL, this is the truth. I've leveled now 7 horde and 6 alliance toons to max, all with around 85 ilvl except for my main which is BIS geared.
There's just nothing left for me at this point. I'm disappointed the delayed SL's release, buggy or not. I've toyed around in the beta, but I am big into lore and do not want it spoiled.
