I’m not a huge gamer. The extent of my gaming is the following - Assassins Creed games, Batman Games. Occasionally if a different game sounds interesting, I’ll go with it but those are my tastes and my main ones. I’m not into shooter games so Halo, COD, etc. mean nothing to me.

I’ve always been an Xbox guy, so I didn’t get to play Spider Man but that’s one I desperately wanted to play. I’m thinking that game alone might make sense for me to switch to PS5 when they come out. The Arkham will be for both, assassins creed for both. Harry Potter and Suicide Squad games have me interested but those will be for both. The tipping point for me is the Exclusive Spider-Man and the $400 digital console.

What say the gaming board? Are there other exclusives on the horizon I should be aware of or any other reason not to switch over?

Sounds like you’ve made up your mind on the PS5 which will allow you to play the PS4 exclusive as well. The digital version is a great deal to get into the next generation of consoles. I’d just go with the PS5 in your case.

Pretty much have. Spider-Man and $400 price are the pros. Cons are just that I’ve always had an Xbox but that really doesn’t matter much. I just didn’t know if there were other exclusives or big differences that I would care about and I figured this board would have some valuable input on the topic

I've always been a PS guy and this generation will be no different. You can argue the tech specs vs the two but I don't think there's any legitimate debate that the PS has the better exclusives.

Well God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn were both top 10 selling games that were exclusive to the PS4 and both have sequels coming in 2021 to the PS5. Sony has the better exclusives by far, and one of the reasons the PS4 dominated last gen.

The advantage Xbox has right now is Game Pass. Sony has a better launch line up but neither is very good. As far as exclusives most would agree Sony had a much better selection this gen but with the Bethesda acquisition (and supposedly more on the way) Microsoft is obviously interested in giving Sony a run for its money this gen.

In the case of the OP, I don't think he would benefit much from Xbox Game Pass as much as I tout the benefits of that service on this board since he doesn't seem to play a lot of games. Now if he said that he liked to play sports games occasionally, maybe but he seems to be settled on the exclusives like Spiderman which are only found on the PSN platform.

If you don’t have a PS3, absolutely get the PS5 and start with Demon’s Souls.

Don’t let all the “OMG souls is so hard” talk scare you. It’s the greatest series of games this century and you’ll wish there was a DS4.

I'll be going ps5 and would choose it over xbox series x anyway, but having a PC that can handle all the Xbox exclusives makes it an even easier choice

PS5 all day. Better hardware, better reliability.

Xbox is useless if you have a PC. if you don't have a gaming pc than choose whatever your friends are on.

I mean better quality hardware from an engineering aspect. Design, efficiency, reliability.

The system hasn't even been released yet and you're flexing the PS5's reliability and efficiency... GTFO, kid.
