So you think O deserves a lifetime pass because of one season where the stars aligned? Saban doesn’t even get that type of credit and O isn’t even remotely close to the caliber of a HC Saban is. O had a fantastic year last year but being able to maintain and contend yearly is what’s expected of a top tier program.

Sure but I think O learned a lot from Ole Miss.

He will do what needs to be done to get better.

O isn’t getting fired. The team was gutted, but he’s gotta fix what can be fixed this year.

Defense is confused.
Play calling issues on both sides.

The question for the defense:

Is the problem the X's and O's or the Jimmys and Joes?

This is LSU, not Appalachian State. LSU should compete for titles every year.

O got lucky once. Thank him, make him a recruiting ambassador or something.

But it’s time to move on

First, define “competing for titles every year.” Second, tell me when LSU has ever, in the history of the program, met that bar.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to compete for titles every year. And I think Orgeron deserves heat for our current defensive woes. But some of you are fricking ridiculous with the “fire Orgeron” takes 3 games after an undefeated national championship.

Of active FBS head coaches, only 3 (including Orgeron) have won a national championship with their current program. Only six have a higher winning percentage than Orgeron at their current program. Of those six, one has only been head coach for a year (Ryan Day), and one is in the Group of 5 (Josh Heupel). That leaves Saban, Dabo, Mullen, and Riley.

I get it. We all want LSU to achieve the level of success we see at Bama and Clemson. We are all pissed off about our performance in the first three games this year. But every time you fire a head coach, you roll the dice. Which is why you give your coach a long rope when he wins a title - there’s no guarantee that the next guy will be any better.

You think last year was luck? 2007 was luck. Last year was not luck.

Orgeron has never been known for being an X’s and O’s coach, He’s never been known for a superior defensive mind. He’s of course not known to be an offensive mind. He’s supposed to be a CEO type coach but he hasn’t even done that well. The O is not much of a coach really. He fell into 2019 and if last year was average he’d be on a blistering hot seat right now.

He’ll be a chizdick for sure. One more year and he’s gone.

True, we had more margin for error in 2007 because of the way other teams finished. We destroyed Ohio State in the game that mattered.

Last year... as great as it was, let's say Texas recovers the onside kick. Or Alabama. Are you sure we hold?
Let's say that Auburn RB scores on the long run. Do we still win?

We had chances to screw things up last year.
