I am sure the Louisiana legislature will find a way to screw this up.

quote:

For the second time in two years, voters in all 64 parishes will decide individually whether to authorize a new form of sports betting.

quote:

This time, parish voters are being asked whether they want to legalize sports betting on football games and other contests, and the results may follow the geographic breakdown from two years ago.

quote:

However, even parishes that approve the measure on Nov. 3 will not be open to the additional gambling until 2022 or so.

The Legislature would have to hammer out rules on how sports gaming would be taxed, and exactly what form it would take.

quote:

Questions include whether the betting would be limited to casinos, like in Mississippi, or allow betting through the internet and smart phones.

The restrictions on gambling are as unconstitutional as it gets.

I thought it was overwhelmingly voted in and that our reps in the legislature who can't do what the majority asks for need to be voted out.

According to article:

quote:

In 2018, voters in 47 of 64 parishes voted to legalize online sports fantasy games for cash prizes, including in East Baton Rouge, Jefferson and Orleans parishes.

It would happen in 2021/2023 not 2022 because you can't pass tax laws in even years. Unless they're in a special session like they are currently

Also, the SPORTS BETTING bill failed in the 2019 session.

The FANASTY SPORTS bill was passed in the last special session. That's the one people voted for in the 2018 election.

This election you'll be voting for sports betting legalization. Although, fantasy sports is yet to be up and operating even after being legalized due to geofencing, etc

It would take them 2 years to figure this out? Mississippi did it in 20 days.
