So are we done complaining about brees arm strength and accuracy?

This game i think proved brees still has it on intermediate routes. Seemed like Payton changed some of the main play designs we used. Was more similar to our offensive concepts from 2012-2015ish. So if anything, it seems to have been a playcalling issue the first 3 weeks.

I was never concerned about the raw arm strength, it looked the same as it has the last few years.
The hesitancy, happy feet, and inaccuracy concerned me. All was on point yesterday.
Not a coincidence that Smith and Sanders are coming around, Drew definitely felt way more confident in them.

This was the first game he wasn't nervously staring at the pass rush

Drew may be lighting up folks soon when Thomas and cook return.

I'm not sure that a pedestrian 19/25 246 yd performance is proving anything

Yes, a 4,000 yard season in the NFL is pedestrian

The issue with any QB over 40 is the ability to sustain a full season. He can look great in Sept & Oct, and then completely fall off in late Dec & Jan because his body can't recover fast enough. It's also why the team really needs to make a concentrated effort to have a better pass/run ratio.
On the season 46% of the play calls are running plays, which was greatly improved by the 60% run plays in the Det game.

The run pass ratio was better because we had a big lead, that should be obvious

The big lead was due to the better run/pass ratio. We ran the ball more than any other game this year. Helps that detroit sucked at stopping the run, up until Ramczyk got hurt.

we also ran it 39 times for a 4.3 yds/rush average (I took out Drew's 3 kneel downs at the end that made it 42 rushes and dropped the average to 3.9 yds/rush)
the coaching staff finally realized that when a team can't stop the run... you keep running at them

Down 14-0 saints called 10 rushes to 3 passes. Down 14-7 saints called 5 rushes to 5 passes

To be fair his average 15-20 yard pass still hangs in the air. Not gonna cut it in the playoffs. And we’re in week 4. Lots of wear and tear ahead

And I don't know if it's because we fixed some Oline issues or if Detroit was just that bad. But it was miles better.

He's currently top 5 in QBR, down from 2nd and 3rd the last two seasons.
What more do you want?

Half this board just can't appreciate drew. I have a feeling they'll appreciate it a year or 2 from now.

He doesn't throw the ball as hard as he once did.
Very accurate as always.
Team chemistry seems a bit off but still 3/4 of the season to go.
Any thing is possible

Eleven passers had 4,000 yards passing last year. Eleven. Its not the
wow number it used to be. Almost half the league is doing it now. Welcome to new age football my guy. 246 is pedestrian as frick considering. BUT if the run game is really working this is fine. The run game was really working. Good overall game by the offense.

Jesus. How many threw for 4K with a passer rating of 116? “Pedestrian as frick considering”. Idiots
Brees and the offense were great last game especially considering the injuries.

Wow this is a true statement he never really threw the ball that hard. Most of his skills have been based on accuracy, understanding of plays, football IQ, and moving forward in the pocket to evade pressure
