you have an incredible obsession with harry giles... Dude just won't ever be a legit starter.. Solid bench player is his ceiling
Is that not where I have him on this team? Off the bench. Solid backup. Im confused.

Under terms of the current CBA, sign-and-trades come with many significant restrictions. Transactions under this rule require all of the following to be true:[2]
I'm pretty sure you can't include other players from Denver. You can have multiple players from the Pels, but if you S&T Grant, he's the only person that can be involved in the trade from Denver.

And the league can veto one of the deals if they think they are combined.

You can’t roll a sign and trade into a trade with multiple other players. To my knowledge.
Yes you can.
The Knicks acquired Kyle O’Quinn in a 2015 sign-and-trade, while the Grizzlies and Bucks signed-and-traded for Troy Daniels and Matthew Dellavedova, respectively, in 2016. In 2017, the Clippers acquired Danilo Gallinari via sign-and-trade. No sign-and-trade deals were completed in 2018.

Would the Pels want Simmons though? It just seems he plays the role we kind of want Zion to develop into.
Let's make this a 5 teamer with Simmons going to the Warriors for Draymond, Looney and picks.
Who gets what picks would need to be decided. Presumably Golden State is giving up #2 and the Minnesota 2021 pick. Sacramento needs more than Richardson to take on Horford. I also wonder if the Pels would be better off cutting the Kings out of the trade and taking on Horford to get Richardson and all the picks. But having one of the best 3 point shooters in the league along side Zion and Ingram is tempting.
Since the names aren't in the image
76ers: JJ, Gary Harris, Kevon Looney, Lonzo Ball, MPJ
Nuggets: Jrue
Pels: Draymond, Buddy, Monte Morris, Zhaire Smith, pick(s)
Kings: Horford, Josh Richardson (#2 or #13)
Warriors: Ben Simmons

I'm confused. He's a bird rights player. So wouldn't it be an extension and trade not a sign and trade. If they renounce his bird rights letting him become a free agent they don't have the cap to resign him and then trade him. They have to use bird rights so then we would follow the extension and trade rules correct?

Jrue goes to Denver.
Lonzo, MPJ, Harris, go to Thunder
CP3 and the Clippers '22 1st round pick to Pels.
JJ and Miller go to Philly
Horford, #21, Philly's 2023 1st comes to Pels.
Draft Vassel, Nesmith, or Bey at #13. Draft Tyrell Terry at #21
Sign Bertans to 4/40 max MLE
CP3/NAW/Terry
Ingram/Hart/Frank
Bertans/Nesmith
Zion/Melli
Horford/Hayes/Okafor

Not a salary cap guru, but I can read and comprehend.
But just did successful trade as prior mentioned with Grant making 11 mil and $500,000 increase (8% min) every year. Trade was successful.
Tbh, would attach screenshot but dont know how with img link.

Pretty sure it’s legal, I had heard many times that it wasn’t and had looked into it during the whole AD fiasco as a possible sign and trade for Russell from the Nets. Many times people said you couldn’t do it, but there is nothing in the CBA prohibiting it.
Don’t feel like looking into it again though
If you can find where it states in the CBA that you can’t do it, I’d be interested in reading it.

Only possible restriction or lack of desire to that trade is not being able to utilize the MLE for Giles. Boom.
But from all indications, very valid deal. Might need to brush up on your CBA rules and sign and trade restrictions FunBunch. Restricted free agents are where it gets tricky or players who werent on the team the preceding year (Van Horn rule).

Bro Grant is going to make way more then 11 mil.... Someone going to offer him close to 20
Posted on 10/3/20 at 3:52 pm to TheWhitemamba16
Yeah Grant played himself into a 15-20 mil deal in the bubble, but I don't see Denver letting him go.
Posted on 10/3/20 at 4:09 pm to Soggymoss
I don’t think Denver would want to let Grant go either ,but if they give him $20M/yr, they are going to start creeping up to being a tax team unless they start shedding some salary. They’d be at $120M in salaries With just 10 players, without Plumlee or Milsaps or their first round pick. Tax is at $132M I believe. They wouldn’t be able to offer the full MLE to someone under that scenario unless they got rid of salary somewhere.
That’s how you pick up a decent player for nothing if you have some cap space to make an uneven trade.

Dude almost everyone on their team they have bird rights too. Unless they signing a free agent they have plenty to extend their own players. Plus they are so deep they could trade to fill out roster.
Posted on 10/3/20 at 4:34 pm to TeddyPadillac
Denver has shown a willingness to go into the tax if needed. As of now they could do that trade and still have around 24 million under the tax for next season (depending on the cap). At most they may end up 5 million or so into the cap.
Posted on 10/3/20 at 4:46 pm to TheWhitemamba16
Dude. You can’t just extend everyone. Eventually, you get too much in salaries. I explained it very simply.
I seriously doubt any team wants to be in the tax this year with the uncertainty of revenue next year plus the loss of revenue this year.

Right. But you don't need to be deeper then a 10 man rotation... most playoff rotations are 7-8 deep. So they'd have plenty of money to extend who they want because of bird rights and find exceptions or veterans to fill the rest of the roster. Jamal and Jokic are already extended along with Harris. Just gotta worry about Grant and MPJ in a few years. Monte morris is free agent but I doubt he takes that much cap
Posted on 10/3/20 at 5:24 pm to TheWhitemamba16
You still need to field a team. They have no post players other than Jokic and MPJ.
Of the 10 on contracts, 3 of them will rarely play, if at all.
They’d have at least 3 significant signings needed.
