Hey now, show some respect. They were very good at beating up women after the war for sleeping with German soldiers

The French are ruthless and don’t apologize for it.

I can’t remember which of the French West African Republics it was now. But Paris had a disagreement with the President a few years ago, and so to make their point, the French just blew up his private jet on the tarmac.

That’s how they operate.

I agree; it is ignorant. In addition, the French are historically much better allies with the U.S. than the Germans (probably 2nd only to the British).

[quote]No one blames France for losing, they blame them for quitting when foreign soldiers were converging on their own capital.[/quote

20 years previous they lost two or more generations of men to the meat grinder. before that they conquered everyone they fricked with until waterloo. before that they helped us gain independence.

any fight would have been a total slaughter, even if they had a shot at a stalemate(they didnt), another generation or more of men would be totally lost to war. it's an understandable thing to decide not to do that, and they DID fight at first, but once they were overrun, it wasn't worth the blood it would take to STILL LOSE but ...prouder?

"foreign" takes on different connotations in "notUSA" since the borders of Europe have shifted so much throughout history. the 30,000 foot view of the 2nd world War includes the first, and everything that led up to it.

not just 'merica coming in to kick the wermacht in the teeth after it was shot in the leg.

Did you misspell Mercia? You do know that Mercia hasn't been a country since the early 10th century. It was one of the 7 kingdoms in England.

Very true. But the French have been our most loyal ally in the war against terror especially in North Africa. When our base got attacked in Chad it was french troops that came to the rescue. The Brits may be our cousins but truthfully after 9/11 the French have been our real friends. Funny enough the Germans have been obstructionists because of their economic ties with Russia.

Put some respect on the French name

ETA: the UK has basically done nothing in its former colonies to help against terrorism.
Germany has also played both sides with Turkey. And China. All because their economy thrives on exports.

France - A very large reason why the US is a country, longtime ally, historically one of the greatest militaries ever

Which country was it that refused to let US military planes fly over their country in the first Gulf War? IIRC it was France.

I don't really have anything against the French, except Parisians. The ones I met in Normandy were awesome. I just like messing with folks sometimes.

ETA: Also I dislike people that use the term 'Merica.
