Yea if it’s a stretch of 60-65 hour weeks no big deal
Literally my typical work week already. No biggie honestly.
I guess it helps that I love my job though. Not sure I'd be as keen on it if I was writing code all day.

Ehh don't say you'll never do it then turn around and do it.

Companies never lie.
But they apparently got caught, so it is what is.

Perhaps Covid had an unforeseen impact.

Simple fix, just finish the game, announce it with a six week hype window, then sell it. Some games won't need that long. If GTA Six was announced out of the blue and coming out in two weeks, it would sell just as much.

I've never understood why "crunch" was such a controversial issue in game development.
1. The gaming industry has always been notorious for it. If you're the type of person who can't deal with it, don't take a job in that industry.
2. Certain studios are also notorious for it, once again, don't take a job there.
It's like buying a house next to the airport and complaining about the noise.

Boo fricking hoo
I’ve been working 14 hours a day 7 days a week since September during harvest. I’ve had a total of 8 days off since the 1st of September. I’m not bitching about it. It’s a part of the gig. I accepted the job so I accepted the hours. You work until the job is done.
People are pussies these days.

I don't get the big deal. Never did. Crunch is pretty normal. Sure, it can be abused, but crunch in and of itself is pretty routine. Not sure how crunch metamorphosed into automatically being a terrible thing requiring every booger-eating youtuber to cry about. Expose the bullshite conditions and situations, but this isn't one of them as far as I can see. Hopefully, CDPR learned a valuable lesson about virtue signaling to the Righteous Brigade. Now they look like evil, corporate liars whipping their slave employees (at least, I know that's exactly how slobs like Jim Sterling will imply it).
Cyberpunk 2077 is a project that's been running 7 years involving tens and tens of millions of dollars and a few hundred people...plus a global pandelerium outbreak of the past 8 or 9 months. fricking this project up can destroy the company. I'd be way more shocked if there wasn't some overtime crunch.

Only Americans love wasting their lives to their job.
So damn weird.
Posted on 10/1/20 at 5:09 pm to UltimateHog
Only Americans want to sit on their asses with their hand out, too. I love when we just reach for the stars on these blanket proclamations.
Are they not getting paid overtime? Are they having to piss in buckets and forced to sleep under their desks? Are they deprived breaks? Are they being sent to death camps or something? Did they switch their coffee to decaf? Only let them eat stale convenience-store doughnuts instead of the Krispy Kremes? Make'em mate with each other to breed new devs and programmers?
Give me something else besides "they're working mandatory overtime for a few weeks until release." 'Cause that's not going to move the needle for anyone except the pronouns on social media.

American labor laws are some of the worst in the entire world.
I couldn't imagine giving my entire life away to a job. Asinine.

How does that apply here? Or are you “just sayin’”?
Posted on 10/1/20 at 5:48 pm to The Quiet One
What do you mean? It's literally the title. 6 day work week is exactly that, illegal in a lot of places.
Multiple people in this thread alone talking about 60+ hour work weeks like it's the norm. shite is sad.

Is it illegal in Poland?
And who cares who said what IIT? Maybe some want to make extra money. Maybe some are pushing above and beyond for promotion opportunities. Jesus. Just jumping to “u dum ‘muricans luv working to death” screams hyperbole.
CDPR is making its employees work an extra 7 days paid overtime and that has caused you to melt. What the frick does American labor laws or “ppl waisting their lives” have to do with anything?
Sheesh man. Don’t buy the game if you’re that wound up about it.

Which should be illegal by labor law standards.
And they're getting ripped apart for it because they said they weren't doing it, and then did it. After multiple delays at that.
It's a bad look, and them getting drilled over it is warranted. Period.
