Ouachita football team had to cancel due to a Covid outbreak. The 2 teams have played every year since 1949.

Place never has been the same since Vallery left for Kilgore after the 94 season.

You are correct. '94-'95 was my Senior year there. Ouachita hasn't beaten West Monroe since 1994.
But tt wasn't just Mike Vallery leaving... a few years later Richwood re-opened... and then the boom of people moving to Sterlington and Ouachita's numbers took a big hit.
We went from 1,650 - 1,700 students down to about 1,200 or so, which depending on the numbers at a few other schools - Ouachita flip-flopped between 5A and 4A for a few years.

I think that is 3 high school games canceled for week 1. And it’s only Tuesday morning.

Seems to be a weekly occurrence here in Georgia.
I referee HS football and I can't remember a week that didn't have at least 1 cancellation. Hell, we had a team cancel the day of the game, 4 hours before kickoff. Just refused to get on the bus.

Richwood/Franklin Parish just cancelled

I'll be surprised if we don't see a lot more of this. Any kid sitting within 6 feet of a student that tests positive must miss 2 weeks of school. All football players should be asking to sit up by the chalkboard or we're gonna have a very watered down season.

There are private LHSAA schools that are about to be busted for not reporting COVID cases and not adhering to proper social distancing during last week’s scrimmages.
Ugly all the way around - the rules / enforcement are stupid - but stand directly opposed to those rules and march to the beat of your own drum seriously put into question your entire season.

My Corky Kell game that I was supposed to call between Mill Creek-Parkview got cancelled the Wednesday of game week. MC had 2 players pop positive and they cancelled. Parkview couldn't find anyone else to play so the game got banged.

I heard it was because Ouachita scrimmaged Franklin Parish and FP had some positives. Nothing about an outbreak of any kind.

Good. High school aged athletes have a very very very high risk of being hospitalized or dying from this virus. Must keep them safe. Stay safe everyone. #We'reAllInThisTogether

High school football players are dropping like flies in states/cities that have allowed high school football. They are all getting COVID and going straight to the hospital or to the grave. We have tons of states nationwide who have been playing football for the past month+ and therefore we have tons of actual evidence of COVID going through these kids like a total wrecking ball. Louisiana is doing the right thing here and protecting these kids instead of letting them die or go to the hospital to be intubated like in states such as Florida or Texas.
Thousands and thousands of high school football players are hooked up to ventilators as I type this because of these states not protecting their kids.

The media said playing football and opening up schools to in person instruction would lead to thousands of needless deaths and hospitalizations.
We have had many states that have opened up in person learning and have played football over the last 6 weeks so surely if the media was correct there should be plenty of examples of COVID destruction by now amongst football players and schools in these areas.
