I totally agree. Before you blow up at me, here is where I am coming from.

I don't begrudge these guys the chance to move to NFL and make millions. They worked hard and they earned it.

HOWEVER, they still owe somewhat of a responsibility to the team. If they had declared in the spring, before the deadline, and moved on, then fine. I woulnd't have liked it but thats the breaks.

These guys went through the summer, off season workouts, and pre season camp only to quit at the last minute.

The staff could have adjusted for it six months ago. WOrkouts and development could have been changed. The replacements could have gotten more time in practice.

They screwed their teammates. There was an ethical way for them to do what they wanted to do, but they didn't take that route. They took the route Ole Miss or Bama would have planned for us.

As Bear said, once a quitter, always a quitter. Fast forward 25 years and I will bet that they quit in other areas or life or are damaged by their self serving attitudes.

For sure but we need to have a program that overcomes it

When players become bigger than the program, we have problems

I was mad about this before the season started then I saw Brennan and that defense. Staying would have hurt them. Had Brady and Aranda stayed thing might have been different.

I am not going to go that far. Chase took one look at this year's offense, compared it to last year's offense and realized he had no where to go but down. I wish he would have stayed, but he made a business decision. Shelvin made a mistake. His draft position is not nearly as solidified as Chase's. He could have benefited from a good year.

OP is completely right, also the sentiment that the players don’t owe the fans anything is absolutely, completely correct. They do owe it to their teammates though, both will see their draft stock affected, yes, even Chase

How many "Ranters" have quit on the team? Must be something in the water, or maybe its genetic.
Look in the mirror!
One loss, a new team with injuries, transfers, and several freshmen.
How much are you whiney fans supporting the team
Just Quitters!!

Vincent skipping the season hurt the most especially with Stingley going down.

That’s okay. They will likely wind up playing for teams like the Jets and the Texans. Maybe they can walk out on those teams when they see they’re struggling.

But not before giving four years of their prime to them.

I typically don't like guys sitting out (such as bowl games), but this is different. Players don't even know if the entire season will be played, or who might get quarantined from week to week.

As for Chase, he is at the absolute pinnacle of his draft stock - he can only hurt his cause by coming back. And I do think he saw what our offense would be this year and knew his numbers would be way down. So that, plus COVID, gave him a good out.

I really don't blame him.
