Diamonddog would be like "It was their poor choice not to sleep in a bunk bed and not to be rich enough to have a house instead of an apartment. God provides."

Like I said before, I'm still floored that the boyfriend was able to walk away from this. As well as able to make a clear phone call to 911.

But I've seen no coherent legal arguments relating to the arrest of the officers for charges pertaining to Taylor's death.
ok, now apply the LOGICAL argument.... does your view change then? I understand you are a lawyer, by profession, and thats all great, but put that aside for a second, and then reevaluate the situation....

I don't support charging people with violations of laws based on emotional or logical appeals. Hope that helps.

If I remember correctly (I don't want to misquote), I believe he fell down in the midst of it and dropped gun. Which would make sense why she ended up with multiple shots.
I'm honestly surprised that Hankinson didn't injure/kill someone else with his cowboy bullshite. He endangered several people with what he did. I'm very thankful that didn't happen.

are you saying people should be prosecuted for things for which they could never be found guilty?

After following this case and the information today, I am of the opinion that a whole slew of changes is needed in that department.
I also believe that negligent actions on behalf of that department led to the raid going sideways, which led to her death.
What I don't know, under KY law, is if the police involved in the raid exhibited negligence to the point of it legally connecting to her death. It appears from the prosecutor and the grand jury, that it did not.
So I believe these officers perhaps share a responsibility in her death, but not to the point of illegal negligence.
It won't matter to the protest crowd, though.

I told y’all that is why they boarded up everything and were blocking roads.... all I know is that it’s gonna be a rough night across the country..... this will NOT sit well with a lot of people.

So, you want him to look at a legal matter not in a legal sense?

All those facts and ppl in here still defending this corrupt arse institution.
It's another example of how these hot button topics come down to binary choices. There's an expectation that you're either on the side of BLM, or on the side of the police, and there's little room for nuance. And both sides play into it. BLM folks have misrepresented what actually happened from the start, just as the police have. But so many on both sides just want to defend their side and accuse the other side of the misrepresentation.
When you actually dig into the facts of this case, it reveals systemic problems with this police department. It also reveals questionable behavior from the deceased. Yet the prevailing opinion in this thread seems to be that she deserved to die because of her questionable behavior, while little to no blame is placed at the feet of the law enforcement body. So much focus from BLM folks has been to hold the 3 police officers accountable when the real problem is the system itself. And all the talking over each other won't amount to much meaningful, positive change.

The officer who lied on the warrant wasn't part of the raid party. I think had it been one of the officers involved that lied on the warrant, it would've been a different story.
I'm guessing, legally, they can't do much by way of charging the officer that lied on the warrant with her murder. But I believe that's why the civil suit was settled with the Taylor family, with the assumption their negligence resulted in her death. If that makes sense.

What is the LOGICAL argument?

n that article, Taylor's upstairs neighbor stated that he did hear the officers shout "Police!" once before entering. Other neighbors did not recall any announcement.
What is the point in lying to get the no knock warrant if you are gonna go there at 12:30am then announce yourselves?

I would agree, even negligent homicide might be too strong and not supported. But... I would think a police officer lying on an official document should be a criminal offense of some sort.

This is gonna be awkward for you. The DA said an independent witness at the scene verified this. Try getting the FACTS before taking a hardline position.
body cams are better than one witness, but they didn't have those on
There are plenty of reasons to doubt the police's accounts of things.

Rioting and looting is now a right, so it is going to happen regardless of charges issued. America 2020.
