That finale last scene was so fake looking.
Bro, I was shaking with tears once I finally figured out the subtle imagery of Jax meeting with his apostles one last time before riding out with his arms spread like the cross to sacrifice himself for the good of the club. It didn't really click for me until I saw the bottle of wine or the dove or whatever the frick it was on the middle of the road.
See ya on the side Jax!

I watched the first few seasons for all the right reasons (although s3 was pretty weak...but the season finale with that annoying FBI agent was pretty damn satisfying, I'll admit that), but I ended up watching it for all the wrong reasons.
The longer the show went on, the more it seemed like Kurt Sutter was writing solely by memory, and the more obvious it was that Shawn Ryan's presence was necessary to save The Shield from being a shitshow.

How do you mean? Like without referring to his original outline? Or remembering his junky outlaw days?

When I watched a bit of it back when it was on I felt that it was borderline silly.
Now when I look back on it I find it to be completely silly.

Any time they went to Oakland someone died.
To be fair, usually someone dies anytime someone goes to Oakland.

SPOILER
The best scene in the series is when Gemma kills Tara imo.

Also, Lyla had to be the hottest on the show...

nly down season was when they went to that foreign country looking for Jax’s kid
I felt that way during initial viewing. But we did a re-watch a couple years ago and I actually liked that season a whole better than first viewing.
"I almost shagged me brother" made me giggle lol

I was pretty heavily engaged for the first few seasons, couple times staying up super late at night/early morning to finish the next one. Some very awesome moments there. Enjoyed through S5, and it started dropping after that. But not as bad as other shows like Walking Dead. It was still watchable with some cool moments to the end IMO.

the producers actually reached out to my brother to do the cgi for this scene. he had just gotten out of county jail for possession of meth and had no previous experience in film or as an artist of any kind.
Just watched the last scene of the finale and saw this youtube comment.

First 4 seasons held my interest. Never made it through Season 5. Super boring and repetitive. Figured out from friends' viewings that pretty much everyone dies by the end so I'm good with just knowing that. Average show.

That season was terrible. They jumped the shark with the Ireland crap, and a couple of other things that happened. I quit watching it three or four episodes in. Didn't start back until about halfway through Season 6, when I heard it was only going to have one more season.
I started giving up on it after the finale of Season 2. It had been great up to that point. With the Season 2 finale being the lingering memory of the previous season, the kidnapping and one killing of a woman, early in Season 3, was enough to find something else to watch.

On a rewatch? It fell apart a couple seasons before it was over
Oh, absolutely agree

Relevant characters would just disappear from the storyline without a trace, as if Sutter literally forgot they were ever on the show in the first place

This show is Exhibit A about what's wrong with the television industry.
They frame the show as one thing and Season 1 gets you hooked.
But forget Season 1, that's a mirage.
They don't tell you that after Season 1 the writers have no ideas and the show will quickly become a massive cheesy soap opera.
This is the fate of a lot of shows. Season 1 great, Season 2 - meh, but okay, Season 3 (am I watching Days of Our Lives?); Season 4 (I am watching Days of Our Lives.)
SOA went to shite so fast after Season 1. That Ireland trip? What the frick was that?

Couldn't stand that kid - the character or the actor. Watched the pilot and that was it.
And I should have been in the target audience - I was #TeamShield after all and a fan of what Sutter had done on that show.
