I had originally planned on not watching, but my desire for football got the best of me.

I was pleasantly surprised they kept the politics out of the game.

I can’t help but wonder if the NFL saw the dumpster fire results of the NBA and decided to not make their game time product political.

Still waiting to see how ESPN handles MNF with how dumb ESPN is, but regardless, because of how the first game was I’m definitely more optimistic.

To those stronger than I and still boycotting...I believe you are justified with what you are doing and I think it did send a message to the NFL, but you can be hopeful about returning if what I saw week 1 continues. It was just football, and I was happy to see it not politicized.

If you didn’t watch pregame, you wouldn’t know the different. Kept it, for the most part, apolitical.

Yeah, but it's still going to be hard to cheer for privileged athletes who have successfully been brainwashed into thinking young black men are hunted when in fact, they are the hunters much of the time.

I agree. That did change the game for me and I have less respect for those players. This is just american high culture now, it sucks. So I won’t be buying their merchandise or wearing their name, but i’m not letting them ruin football for me. Hopefully this is just a fad for a short time.

Brainwashed?
Hell no these are grown men.
They do what their boss says to do or says to wear like many of us.
As to other things said or worn on their own time they can make those choices for themselves for whatever reasons and take the consequences.

The BLM and kneeling don't bother me. The players going preteen girls and bashing Brees on Twitter and not taking it up privately like grown men, did bother me. The Jacob Blake on their helmets was way overboard, easily could have found someone else to "glorify" If a different team would have done all that I'd still be watching the Saints, even with the kneeling and whatever else. They've been doing that for 4 years.

Those who choose not to watch in order to make a point are on a fool's errand, imo. I don't pay any attention to messages on the back of a helmet or scribbled on a jersey. It's easy to ignore, and I know that the team and the NFL are not advocating Marxist violence. Nor are they supporting rapists. It's all in yo haids, baws.

Can someone tell what the hell this is about? I honestly don't know, although someone asked me if I knew anything about an issue involving pre-teen girls being related to
the Drew Brees controversy.

So why are they advocating for violence and holding up rapist as hero's?

It's not that black and white (no pun intended ). You have to realize many are taught from a young age all the way through adulthood that they are victims (evil white man, capitalism, education system, prison system....pick your reason). A lifetime of that doesnt suddenly go away.

I've raised daughters (no pics) even though they didn't act like that at a young age, some of their friends did.

A lot of Brees teammates bashed him publicly on Twitter, they bashed him personally even. Lattimore subtweeting Brees is a racist, Jenkins telling him to STFU, later deleted, Cam Jordan, Kamara, MT, the other WR from 49ers, all going in pretty hard on him. They could have handled all that privately, contrary to today's beliefs, that actually is still how most adults from work handle things.

Davenport then got jumped on for somewhat defending Brees. The only person who actually handled it well iirc was Demario Davis.

Again not boycotting, lost interest in rooting for them. Wife (no pics) has said if not for Saints football I'd have no reason for internet and she's correct. So yeah the habit is still there to come to this site. Probably 75-85% of my posts are on ST. Hopefully it comes back. I was "obsessed" most of my life. I'd like to one day at least get back to "casual fan" status haha. Coming to this board helps a little though

Did the players wear names and did the end zone have slogans rather than team names? I didn’t watch it and really don’t know.

The NFL actually kind of put a stop to the BS. I wish I could say the same for college football

They need to do more than “kind of”. The NFL never considered what the fans wanted. The Saints never considered what their fans wanted. All we got from both are lectures. The Fans are the customers. Ultimately it’s the fans that pay the bills.

I dont like all the bullshite but I've been a saints/football fan too long to not watch. I can mute the social justice bullshite and still enjoy it. Not letting this woke election year nonsense ruin it for me.

Nah, I'm good. If I keep my season tickets next year and the Saints are good, I'll be selling the tickets at marked up prices.

I realize a lot of things. So it goes for everyone. You learn what you learn and no one is off the hook for taking that responsibility seriously. No nothing just goes away of the things we learn growing up. You sound similar to a 2-3rd year psych major lol
