Help me upgrade PC. Where do I start or focus?

AMD FX-8350 4 GHz 8-Core Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-2400 CL10 Memory
XFX Radeon R9 290 4 GB Double Dissipation Video Card
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Thoughts? I can still run things fine for the most part. I feel though I am due for some type of upgrade. Build was done back in 2013-2014 I think
Maybe would like to ultimately run two monitors

You can do that now?
I'm one to always say upgrade video card before anything else but that 8350 is poop

i still got my old PC from 2013-ish with an 8320 in it. can i upgrade that cpu without upgrading the motherboard?

Yeah I figured it would be a upgrade to mobo and video

Yea you would basically need a full system overhaul. The CPU Cooler (if you still have the brackets for it), storage, PSU and case would be the only things that could move to a new build.

I owed the 3 and 5.
Both boards smelt burnt after extended periods of use with an OC'd 8320.

Yeah I'd just hang onto the PSU, CPU cooler, and maybe the RAM (this could definitely be upgraded later). If I were building from scratch I would hold off until AMD releases their latest lineups. Nvidia's latest GPUs are a steal and it makes me wonder if they are expecting serious competition from AMD this year.

Keep the PSU, cooler, and chassis.
Upgrade everything else. Start with the CPU. Which means mobo and RAM as well.
ETA: as far as GPUs, don't be afraid to buy a used 20-series from Nvidia. Their prices should drop like a rock very soon.

Can always buy the Mobo and CPU and just wait for GPU's with your current GPUs but if you can afford to wait just wait. Too close to major launches in the gpu category to build

It'll probably take a bit since the prices for the 3000 cards will be high and hard to get

I don’t see new cards dropping in price (Amazon, Newegg, etc.) for new 20 series. I bet their prices will remain current until they sell out.

They never do anyway

i've wondered why. why would anyone buy a 2080ti for $1500 when the 3070 is basically the same card for $500. what happens to the 2080ti stock? do people still spend the extra $1000? that's insane.

Idt anyone will buy for 1500, unless they literally can't get any on the 2nd hand market, which idt is the case.
2nd party sellers will probably hold price until release or shortly after release. Stocks won't be good for the 30series for about 2-3months, maybe not until 2021.

Then, we won’t play this game again next summer. Finally able to buy a 30 series card in the spring. 40 series comes out in the summer. Can’t buy spring until ‘22. It’s a revolving cycle.
ETA: it’s like buying a current gen console the year next gen consoles release. It’s dumb.

Honestly, you'd need to upgrade a lot so better off with a new build. If you upgrade the processor, you'll need to upgrade the RAM and Motherboard anyway. Graphics card definitely needs to be upgraded, and you'll want more RAM than 8 regardless. Your power supply is probably the only thing that would make the trip, but IMHO get a new one as well and repurpose this tower. Maybe reimage it and give it a family member or friend.

trash that thing and start over

This thread did not go as planned.....
My PC is not that bad. I can still run a lot of things decently

It's not, definitely old though.
That's the problem, you have no good upgrade option without basically starting over. You cant upgrade the CPU without upgrading the RAM and mobo, there's not much point in upgrading the video card on such an old CPU, basically get my point
