You cant upgrade the CPU without upgrading the RAM and mobo, there's not much point in upgrading the video card on such an old CPU, basically get my point

this. just too many old parts

My PC is not that bad. I can still run a lot of things decently

As has been said, any upgrade will throw your system out of balance. If you upgrade your GPU, you're going to get bottle-necked by your CPU. If you upgrade your CPU, you'll need to upgrade pretty much everything.

Keep your PSU and have fun planning a new build.

Chipsets are a bitch, man

I’ve been collecting pieces for a new build over the last couple of weeks, waiting for the RTX 3080 launch. O11xl finally arrived today. Just lean into it and have fun

XFX Radeon R9 290 4 GB Double Dissipation Video Card

EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Thoughts? I can still run things fine for the most part. I feel though I am due for some type of upgrade. Build was done back in 2013-2014 I think

Maybe would like to ultimately run two monitors

Keep your CPU cooler, GFX card (for the time being), and Power Supply.

What are your goals, aside from 2 monitors? What frame rates are you going for? Is this a primary work pc or gaming pc?

The good news is that 2021 is a great year to be building a new PC with the 30 series Nvidia GPUs coming out. I will be doing the same.

And don't forget about Zen 3 coming out in October.

Run what I want to run game wise. This is purely a gaming machine. I'm honestly not so hardware intense as some of you in this thread

trash that thing and start over

Almost like the build needs to be "Bulldozed" completely.

Gaming is hardware intense, the abuse taken by your CPU over the years is like you being "Piledrived" from the top of a ladder, off a cage and onto a table everyday.

The OP's rig never "Steamrolled" all games, but he seems "SATA-fied" with the performance.

Yeah keep the PSU and case, sale everything else.

October seems like the time for him to upgrade.

Zen3
RTX 3070

What are your goals? Or you just looking for component recommendations?

Fair enough

But when you say gaming machine and "run what I want to run..." that could mean a whole lotta things

You trying to game at 1080p, 1440p, 4k?

Yeah, I just mentioned he should keep his GFX card incase theres a shortage of the RTX 30 series and he can't get a new one for a while
