Thinking about planting my fall plot of clover, wheat, and oats but I am on the fence about not being as cool as I would like in Washington Parish. Looks like we will have a week of scattered rain so that’s a good thing.
Anyone taking the chance in LA?
What’s your thoughts?

Too early for me. Thought I'd get ahead of the game a few years ago and plant mid-September. It all germinated and came up beautifully for about 2 weeks, then scorched. Was back to square one.

I will plant on Oct 8/9 simply because of my work schedule. I live north of Liberty.

Too hot and dry for me. I’ve been burned a few times planting early.

I was planning on planting this weekend in Simsboro and Oil City, La.

But I may just disk everything up and plant in a few weeks. Do you guys think it would hurt to go ahead and fertilize this weekend and plant in 2 or 3 weeks?

I at least want to go get my lime spread before the rain, could always wait a few weeks for the seed & fertilizer. We have a late rut, so wouldn't hurt to wait till October.

Smart move IMO. Much more enjoyable outside then also. I’m disking tomorrow. Gonna be a nice cool 92.

We like most will wait until early October. Planting this early the grass gets tougher quicker and the deer won't eat it as readily.

October has worked very well for me for many years.

I'm waiting a couple more weeks. Too hot and the army worms will kill everything if I plant now.
