re: Anyone win gator tags ever?
Posted by hjl0820 on 8/27/25 at 12:26 pm to GravelLotinCanada
When I had tags, I skinned them and kept the tail meat, I took the hides to mark stanton in Lafayette to make them in to leather (takes about 10 months) then he will make anything you want out of the leather, it is NOT cheap. I had 3 about 5’ skins and it was $1200 to tan and I have a pair of boots being made now that is another $700, should be ready in about 6 months

You want her to track what you ask her to, not just deer, if you want to get started now, use any type of liver and like the others said on a rope with rubber boots. Leave the liver at the end as a “treat” and give a TON of praise. I use mine to play hide and seek with my grand kids, they both enjoy it. Start short 10-15 yards straight line, then increase as she progresses

My GSP tracked a 17 hour old trail over 200 yards last year. They are very determined when trained. I started him with liver trails at 8 weeks old.

I’m 6’1” 260 and 65 years old, I one stick hunt exclusively, love it

Several years ago I replaced my R22 2.5 ton with a 3 ton 410, 16 seer, my old unit seemed to run all the time so I chose to go up .5 ton. Now because the unit does not run long enough to “condition” the air, I have to use a dehumidifier. Unit cycles off a lot and electric bill is smaller but I have to empty the dehumidifier 2 times a day during the summer. So more tonnage is not always better, use your square footage to determine what size,

Thawing and re-freezing is a pain, but does not affect the scent trail. Always prep your “drag” using rubber gloves so the dog is not tracking you. I used liver to start my pup, it is easy, a lot of scent and a good treat when found. My dog is trained to track the scent I tell him, we play hide and seek with the grandkids , that being said you can use anything to set a trail

We used national foundation, Darren 225-924-6156 for some commercial lots, he uses expanding foam, no complaints after a year of use. I have no idea what the cost for a small job like this would cost, but it is not “cheap” but should be less and cleaner than replacing

In BR, I use treppendahl landscape, they spray 4-5 times a year, I used to DYI but would forget etc. for me they do a good job and I don’t have to worry about it. I can definitely see a difference in my lawn.
I switched my 36v golf cart to lithium last year, no regrets, also lost about 200 lb of weight so cart runs better and longer
I saddle hunt, both one stick and occasionally with 20” sticks. Everything I use is rope, specifically “amsteel” it is as strong as cable, and in 3 years have never had a failure. It’s lighter and quieter than chain or ratchet straps
I have a 1965 for 3000 diesel, when I need parts I use ALL STATE AG PARTS
Www.Tractorpartsasap.com
855-530-1460, their parts guys know tractors and can give great information and help. Believe it or not a lot of parts are available on Amazon too

Golf cart repair help
Posted by hjl0820 on 8/29/23 at 6:30 am
I have been around a while I usually just read and gain knowledge, today I need help. I have a 2008 EZGO TXT 36 v, over the last 6 years I have put a torque motor, Alltrax controller, electric forward reverse switch, so it is far from stock. I just put in a 36v lithium battery, changed the key switch and solenoid, now it won’t run, and I am stumped. Anyone have a suggestion of a place that works on custom carts? I have done all the previous work myself, but I am just over it and want to put it in the shop, but don’t want to pay $150 an hour for a guy to scratch his head and wander what all of this is. Any help would be appreciated
WeBoost whole home, around $500, but works great. I bought 3 different $150 models for the camp before I found this one.

I used a “big bob” one stick with 3 step aider last year with a TX5 saddle, it is a lot better than the hawk helium 20” sticks and platform. I am 63 years old and slightly over weight so if I can hunt a one stick comfortably anyone should be able to. Unfortunately I am in BR or I would be glad to let you Try it out,
