You know I haven’t watched Survivor in a while, but they really haven’t done a Survivor Alaska, Yukon, or Greenland yet? And they’ve only been filming in Fiji for the past 5 years? Yeah don’t put them there in the dead of winter, but I don’t see why they haven’t done a tundra or mountainous season yet. I know wolves, bears, and moose are intimidating, but they did a season in the African Serengeti and Australian Outback, and those seem to be at least as equally terrifying. Are the insurance companies not paying for it anymore?

OP ... you may as well just change the subject line to read: (Spoilers)
Hope you got the info you needed and quit scrolling the thread afterward. Smh.

quote:They haven't really done a non beach season since season 18 (2009) I believe. Water challenges and scenery pop on screen and I think it's important the castaways can get their own food from the ocean.

You mentioned Australia and Africa, which are two of the worst seasons from the castaway perspective. Africa is known as the harshest conditions they ever went through as it was very difficult for them to get water and they had to rely on rationed canned goods for the full 39 days as they couldn't really leave their camp area for food. Players were lethargic and it really showed on screen. The show isn't really about the survival aspect anymore and hasn't been for a long time.

I think that's usually what is said when people ask about a cold weather season. Watching people sit around a fire trying to stay warm would be pretty bad TV.
Also you don't get to see

I think they are locked in to Fiji for the time being. Probst loves filming there and they have sets and challenges already built.

Fiji also covers 45% of all production costs in return of the getting great marketing.

It's bottom third, for sure, but it's miles better than Island of the Idols.

I started it last night so we will see.

I realize I'm going in the opposite direction which I hate but I've caught the bug and by watching returnee seasons it makes me want to keep going back to their first ones ha. I'm currebtly on 16 micronesia and liking it. I really like ozzie so I quickly looked and avoided spoilers and saw 13 was his original season and I also like parvati and she's on there too.
I originally intended to watch one of the 30s next (can't remember offhand if it was 31/33/37 bit it was one recommended highly in this thread). Do you think I should go 13 next or one of those others?
Also on 16 johny fair play seemed to be a big returning star but that's the first I'd ever seen him. Would his season be worth checking out first?

Honestly, there really aren't many really bad seasons, so jumping around is fine. And I think jumping to one's that had players you liked in them is fine as well. If you watch too many of the latter seasons though, the earlier ones will seem a little boring.
His first season was a pretty good season from what I recall. I haven't watched it in years, but it has a few other big names in the franchise - Sandra, Rupert, Andrew Savage.

Idk Andrew but I like Sandra and rupert! What season is that one?
And to piggyback on the other question would you recommended watching that one or 13 next? I know there's not a wrong answer but just looking for your personal opinion

Pearl Islands - Season 7.
I also haven't watched season 13 since it aired, I don't think. Looking at the season recap, I'd lean 13. It introduces you to Ozzy and Yul, and has Parvati and Penner as returnees.

Sweet.
Again looking for your personal opinion, after 13 should I knock out those highly recommended seasons in the 30s or jump back to 7?

Miss Utah looked so good. Just my two cents.
Of course the peanut butter and cookies strip by Heidi and Jenna was great as well.

They were all new that season, as well as Candice who came back twice.

Man, that's tough because it's been so long since I've watched season 7. But maybe that answers the question, as I really haven't watched many of those earlier seasons since they first aired, so I'd like to go back and watch some of them. I'd maybe recommend bouncing back and forth just to get a better appreciation for how the game has evolved, both with strategy and production.
So finish 13, then a recent one, then bounce back to 7, then another recent one.
