quote:

Cameras are now rolling again on Mission: Impossible 7, and to celebrate, Tom Cruise has driven a motorbike off the edge of a cliff.

We all recall Cruise hanging from a mountain by his fingernails and clinging on to the side of a plane in past movies.

But this giant ramp, built on the edge of the Helsetkopen mountain in Stranda, Norway, is something new and uniquely terrifying, even for those with a head for heights.

Norwegian news site NRK has nabbed actual video footage of Cruise performing the stunt, speeding off the ramp, while a plane and helicopter fly overhead.

As the motorbike hurtles towards the ground, Cruise deploys a parachute to bring him safely to the ground.

Don't agree with his personal life choices, but hard to fault his dedication to his craft. His movies are always entertaining, and appears to be a genuinely nice person.

Mad respect for Tom for doing his own stunts. Hanging off flying planes, rappeling down the Burj Khalifa, jumping from building to building, he's done some pretty hairy stunts for his films.

I always say this in Cruise threads, but he’s pretty unanimously thought of as one of the nicest stars in the industry, does all his own stunts, and his movies are so entertaining.

Weird AF Scientology aside, I like Tom.

Tom Cruise may be a weird guy and has some disagreeable opinions, but he's a good actor, seems like a nice guy, and I respect him for doing his own stunts. That's wild.

No idea how he doesn't have an Oscar yet either.

There are some guys in Hollywood that refuse to do their own stunts because their injury shuts down production and everyone working on The film gets laid off. I have no way of knowing if that’s true. Also I’d imagine being a huge star changed the way a person exists. Think about how weird it’s been not being able to go to a restaurant for the last few months due to covid. Now imagine that’s your life.

Once the bike leaves the ramp it’s not much different than any other parachute jump, my fear would be some type of malfunction causing the bike to go off the side of the ramp.
