why? it dont do shite other than give you mental alertness, doesnt help recovery, doesnt decrease soreness. just a fad

Week 2 done. Did option 3. That last set of 5 was a doozy.
Ready for a couple days off. I’m walking a 5k tomorrow with my wife in Lafayette. I’ll for sure get my steps in!
Enjoy the weekend boys.

I like the feeling after. I like the rush. I’m a junkie ok. I feel sluggish majority of mornings and it helps get me going.
Lift was easier than I thought. Wrapping up bench now. Did option number 3.

Good luck!
Everyone here are beasts going for option 3! Need to normalise option 2
I went for option 2 on squat on 128kg or 282 pounds, and was a bit sketchy and wobbly on last reps, so glad I didn't go with the 4 and 5 reps.
After a month of BYIC, I'm on a 90% TM tested a week before Squatober started.
Been crushing food, protein and recovery walks, but only sleeping 6 or so hours each night.
I went with option 3 on bench and felt I had more in the tank, but saved it for the push ups, which I needed a 30 sec break on last 2 sets
Everyone here has done so well. You guys keep me engaged and inspired!

Week 2 is done! Finished up with Friday the Thirteenth this morning.
Went Option 3 for Squats, and Option 2 for bench. Feel like the intensity got turned up a good bit this week.
Looking forward to rest and recover and get back on schedule next week.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Week 2 has been a good one. Did option 3 for squats at 162kgs. I can't wait to test max, because I feel like 200kgs and more will be coming soon.

Aaron did post that this week was one of the hardest they ever programmed for Squatober. I was feeling it this morning in my hips during my bike ride and had to cut it short. Instead spent some extra time walking.

You only need to read the comments this year vs last year in this thread to know that.
We're all pretty beat up and needed this weekend off.
I see got a sore back and I guess I tweaked my left shoulder on the OHP a few days ago. My legs and knees are recovering well.
We're all earning that Squatober gear, for sure.

I drove 2 hours to go bow hunt. When I got out of my truck, I was struggling. Loosened up as I walked to the lock on but damn I’m feeling 40!

No 2 day weekend for me, I fricked that up already. Just finished day #11 "Bend-Pause-Drive". That was mercifully short. I really like paused SQUATS! as there is nothing better for helping me get my mobility back for "Ultimate Depth", and it's not too bad for strength building too.
Back, knees, balls....everything is feeling almost back to normal after this week's Monday-Tuesday.
I did some extra practice on front squat using different grip patterns. I'm no where near flexible enough to use a clean rack position but I worked on it a bit with an empty bar. I then tried out the wrist straps method, which I've always wanted to try, and that feels pretty damn good. That will be my preferred way to front squat for the time being.
Now it's time for steak, pumpkin pie, and long poems about the forest.

Anybody know what time tomorrow's workout gets posted?
Curious what's in tap and if it's time to adjust our TM.
If we don't see the Stairway to Strongville this week then I'll be slightly disappointed.

They post it at 11AM CST.
Its 5x5 squat, bench, deadlift all at 67%, 73%, 75%, 77%, 77%; 2.5 min rests. This is NOT a SS.
Cardio is BB Bent Rows 5x5; 2min rests.

That'll be a nice clean, efficient day. I'm curious why these percentages. One of my great sins in life is that I love to read the comments, and from reading the comments on his post I see people referencing Strong Lifts 5x5 as the inspiration behind the program for 10/16. Ive heard about this of course, but never read about it in detail. I couldnt find any details online about what percentages are used for 5x5. Does anyone have experience with this? I always assumed they were flat sets.
Im curious why the first set is 67%, then jumps 6% to 73% and thereafter increases by 2% for set #3 and set #4, and the 4th and 5th sets are identical. I like the little jumps, but my OCD would prefer them to all be equal, e.g. 5% up every set.

StrongLifts is flat sets across and a basic linear progression, not % based so anyone saying that is a newbie and just assumes all 5x5 is “StrongLifts” based which is frankly retarded
I’ll have to check percentages of Madcow and Texas method tomorrow to see if they match, but Aaron uses those percentages and ones just like them all through his programs. For squats, deads and bench

Day #12 - and week #2, finally done for me. I liked tonight's show. Pretty damn hard, but not so hard I will be crippled. I chose option #3 for both.
430 moved just as I would expect, but the movement seemed a little more crisp than it has been in previous months. I don't think my bar speed was any faster, but it felt that way. Definitely smoother with coordination and balance. All the work is paying off it seems. Prior to beginning bench press I thought 310 x 4,4,5 was gonna be too easy, but it turned out to be just about right.

Week 3 Day 1 complete. Old school strength workout loved it. Finished last set of rows at right over an hour
