I think you’re right about people who join cults being weak-minded. BUT, I also think it stems from people wanting to belong to something bigger than themselves. So instead of looking to our Lord Jesus Christ they look past the obvious path to salvation and try to find solace in a false and devious personality or system. They become sheep to a false god.

Awesome. Now we are getting deep. But what if you belong to the religion that you believe in? I don't know what it is, but I will give an example. Let's say you are Baptist. So that means everyone who is Catholic is in a cult. They are going to hell. Wrong choice. False God, as you say.

They don't consider themselves a cult

who admits to it?

but church of the Redeemer active in Houston in the early 70s became a worldwide phenomenon 60 minutes did a story on it the fisherfolk were worldwide phenoms music credited by some for starting the new modern worship music

the founder started a branch in Scotland but he was just fleeing accusations of sexual abuse

they had this idea of commune in the community so in inner city of Houston actually started a Commune in the Community
singles unmarried unaffiliated individuals within the church would join a more stable family in turn over their paychecks to them and gets an allowance back using their pay for household bills

within those homes there were charges of the abuse ,fraud sexual abuse Google Austin lifesaving does all sorts of stories that were nothing more than misery

Anyone can make the argument that any organization is a cult.

Faith in Jesus is not the same thing as religion. Faith in Jesus is a relationship and not a religion. Catholicism and Protestantism are attempts to direct worship in a certain way. True worship is very simple according to none other than Jesus himself. Love. Love the Lord and love others as you love yourself. Easy to say but oh so hard to do!!!
