My son’s school starts Friday as well, I’m working the parking lot.

Is Walton high still the best team in Cobb county?
Marietta won state last year and McEachern
is always up there.
Walton is still probably the best in east Cobb.

Haha I played on those Suggs teams. Still can’t believe we lost to Valdosta in 98

Damn skippy!
Looking forward to see what Coach Reid has in store. We have a lot of talented underclassmen that don't know what it's like to lose.

Great teams in Georgia in late 90’s. SW Dekalb 1995 team GOAT.

Did you play middle school football at McEachern? I was AJ’s Head Coach when he was a 6th and 7th grader. If so, I coached you also. We had some good teams but Harrison was stacked those years with Patterson. Put us out in the semis. We played a bowl game over Thanksgiving his 7th grade year and AJ couldn’t play. Daniel Torrenti had to start at QB. We beat the crap out of some team from Charlotte, NC and then played a team of all stars from Gwinnett. They beat us 16-7 in the freezing cold.
I also coached his brother Andrew in 2002 on the 8th grade team. We beat Pope in the Championship game when they had TJ Yates. That was my final year coaching. I started in 89 and finished in 2002.

And you are right. We got hosed at Valdosta. They had some insane home cooking in that game. But Coach Dorsey tried to 121 and 124 GT it to death and Valdosta had 9 in the box all night. Such a talented team that year. That team and the 91 team should of one the championship.

Haha that was hilarious to read, I did not play in middle school. I went to Smitha which was pretty Osborne heavy. I heard from friends about all the Tapp studs like Levi Barry, John Tillman, Ray Ivey, and Norval.
Dan Torrenti is a good friend of mine and one of the best people I’ve ever known, he would find it pretty amusing to see his name brought up in this forum.
Did you ever coach with Brent Massingill? He started coaching right around the time you left. Another very good friend of mine.
Love Coach Dorsey but he was stubborn and it cost us that night. I think the moment got to a lot of guys too. We had OL crying in the sidelines during the game and I’ll never forget the name Fred freaking Stewart. I think after that epic Northside comeback In the quarters we all thought it was our year for sure.

Dan has done very well for himself. His dad Jeff and the whole family bleeds blue and gold. They had just moved to Georgia from California when Dan started 6rh grade.
Brent coached with me during my last 2-3 seasons. He was aboui 19 or 20 years old. Tell him I said hello. I haven’t seen him in st least 15 years. My initials are JM.
The Valdosta game was tough. They just sent the house from the jump and had penetration all night except for the opening drive.
The Northside game was one of the best I have ever watched. Gilligan made a couple of circus catches as y’all clawed back and one that one after being down 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

Jamey Dubose is a better coach than Rush.

Harrison bout to start playing big boy football again, good thing they cashed in last year. I think they are about to be in for a rude awakening

Agreed. He will do very well at Lowndes. He was very good at Central-Phenix City.

Nope, they're middle of the pack behind:
Allatoona
Harrison
Marietta
North Cobb
Hillgrove
McEachern

WTOC is the CBS affiliate in my hometown of Savannah, GA.
In other news, my assignment for Friday was cancelled after the visiting team reported positive COVID tests. Fortunately, it was only GICAA (small private Christian schools) and not the GHSA.
