A Open Letter (go ahead and cringe if you must) to Chase

Sir:

Go with your gut and heart.

Only.

You've given us 2 years of excellence.

We thank you.

There will be lots of voices in your ears.

Ignore any voice that potentially gains (public ego, money) from your decision.

Factor ONLY what your gut & heart says.

The money is not going to evaporate if you go, or stay.

The injury and Covid risks are above zero, but not significant.

You can find more-than-sufficient rationale for any decision you make...

However, your gut and heart are all that matters right now.

(PS: This assumes Verge's statement indicates your decision to depart is not final. If it is, good luck to a great Tiger).

I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment. I just have to stick with my policy of downvoting any and all "open letters".

When I really sit back and empathize...

Provided an out but I really doubt COVID played a role in this decision.

Sitting out, Chase's draft stock will not be impacted immensely but on the other side...There is huge risk if he returns and has a sub-par year. Brennan is not Burrow and if our OL is impacted, this could be a reality.

People are only mad bc he was vocal about staying. Had he said nothing there would be no bitter feelings.

More than any guy we’ve had that has a great sophomore season, it makes sense for Chase to sit out. I certainly want him to play but his decision will have no effect on my fond memories of him as a Tiger. That being said coming back would put him in the Devin White tier of guys that make me proud to be an LSU fan. I think overwhelmingly he will be loved here whatever he chooses.

Another “fan” sucking the dick of a kid choosing himself over the Team.

You realize that this statement includes you.

So, he should ignore your post.

I agree with your post, but when people say "Open Letter" I do cringe.

Is this a letter, or a poem?

frick this. Spoiled kids foregoing the best times of their lives playing College Football, in the best environment ever. When was the last time a 100 thousand fans packed an NFL stadium? This dude will be a “has been” in the NFL in a few years anyway.

An agent got to him and gave him money. He can’t play for LSU this year

Honestly will not daily hom for leaving, he has a lot of risk to injury and the QB/OL situation. I think COVID is less about getting sick at this point as much as it is the unknown of will the games actually be played, start and stop to the season etc. if he skills he can be singularly focused. He is an amazing talent and I would love him back on the team if for nothing else than to continue to cement the culture of the WR room that jetts started and the three of those guys continued to cultivate last year. I want him on this team but will be a fan of his for a long time regardless.

All true. His timing and lack of keeping his word are my problem with his decison. But in the end my problems and thoughts have no bearing on a kid who is being led by others to quit on his teammates very late in the process.

Marcus Lattimore begs to differ.

This is a different situation, but to say the money definitely isn’t going anywhere is not true.

Still sucks and I’m upset about it. But he is a kid, the season will have an asterisk next to it, I understand why he did it. I don’t like it, but he doesn’t owe me anything.
