What's the Go To Outdoor Kitchen SS Drawer, Cabinets, Grill, etc?

Working on a new house and need to select my gas grill, cabinet openings, a set of drawers, and I'd like a roll out trash container, all set in brick.

I'm not much of a cook, but hope to be able to focus a little more in the new digs. Not looking to kill my budget (yet again), but now is the time to select or at least leave room for future add ons.

Thinking of just doing a gas grill, a one or two burner thingy next to it. Open to any suggestions, but came here looking for brand suggestions that have value but not break the bank.

Go with Blaze. BBQ Guys if you are in BR. It will be more expensive than a regular burner but get you a power burner, you won’t regret it.

I am in BR was just looking at bbqguys and Blaze. Great looking setup you have there.

What do you use your powerburner for?

Did you go with blaze for your SS access doors etc?

Is that what that is to the right of your grill? A burner for a big pot for boiling/frying?

Yes, can boil or cook a jambalaya or just about anything.

That’s the first time I’ve seen anything like that incorporated into an outdoor kitchen. Looks great!

Yes, the doors, drawers and trash bit are blaze along with all of the appliances. The only thing not Blaze is the vent hood.

I'm guessing you're pretty pleased with the quality? I'll go check them out at the bbq guys.

Looking to do similar to what you did with brick and similar access, smaller grill. Anything you would've done differently now?

I went with RCS at Gorman brothers.

Grill, double burner, large sink, stainless trashcan pull out, fridge, kegerator, single door with 2 drawers, 3 double doors.

We went with Blaze products from BBQ guys also. I agree with the poster that mentioned the power burner. We got the professional one with the wok ring.

Yes, very pleased with the quality. Have to keep it all polished though.

I am happy with the layout no regrets on what we had put in either.

Will head over to bbq guys this week to hopefully touch n feel.

I see Rize didn't do any additional framework behind his brick. That's what I'd like to do too. My entire project otherwise seems frickin way over engineered. For a simple person, my build sure isn't.

How about you X82nd and C-bear, any I-beams or anything under those bricks?

If your framing outdoor cabinets use steel studs/framing

And stucco or brick exterior, granite tops.

No rot no burn.

I am currently building my setup, and I went with:

Gas- Artisan LINK


Charcoa- Kamado Joe Big Joe 3



I was deciding between Artisan and Blaze, but ultimately went artisan after much research. While both are great options, I like that Artisan is 100% made in USA along with being Alfresco made, which is one of the absolute best in the business. Artisan is the more affordable product line though, since I ain't no OT Baller. The artisan came with a door as a promotion, so I am installing that. Haven't decided yet what to do with the other door.


My kamado Joe doesn't arrive until end of September. The KJ3 is still new, so the built in version isn't releasing until then.


Give me a few moments to figure out how to post pictures, and I will show my setup so far.



Ok. Here's my current progress. My BIL designed this for me, and we are now 3 days into the build. 1 for framing, 1 for installing and 1 for cement board and adjusting trim work. We are using cement board as heat protection for the wood. My BIL shaped the wood into a sphere to dress up around the Joe, which I thought was a cool idea that we didn't see anywhere else online. Once installed, we will cut out area for vent flow and ash tray access. I have leftover tile from my house construction, so that's going to be my counter top.

I used the grill for the first time last night. Some overcharging is there as I am learning the grill. Plus any grill takes a few uses to season and develop a nice even heat.

By the way, my dimensions are 9'x3'. Also I stained the wood with a sealer for extra protections from elements. It's an outdoor rated wood (my BIL chose it, since I don't know much about that stuff), but I wanted to be extra sure it's safe from moisture.

We plan to cover the front with hardy board or fence boards. Haven't decided yet.

Thanks for sharing, midgetDS. Good looking setup all 3 of you will have. I'll check out the Artasian stuff also.

I went by BBQguys today in BR. Very helpful and tons of stuff to look at. If I had to order today, I'd go with the Blaze, but I don't, so I'll keep researching.

Just fyi, I'm planning on going with the smaller 25" Blaze grill and the "normal" double burner near it. Saving me an empty spot next to it should I decide I need an egg or smoker or whatever. The flip side of the island will double as a bar, so the space will be enjoyed if it never evolves also. My propane will be piped into the island from under it, so I'll put a quick connect on the island for a boiler, patio heater or whatever.

I went with a Lynx grill and double side burner. Blaze cabinets, trash bin, drawers, fridge and ice maker. All from BBQ guys (Shopper’s Choice) in BR.

The Lynx is not cheap but I wanted a step up from Blaze for the actual cooking components. I have heard good reviews on them though.

Make sure you get a trash can and a sink. Don’t forget to leave yourself some counter space as well for prepping. I’ve seen many outdoor kitchens that are full of appliances but no room to set things down.

ETA: I framed mine with metal studs then covered in kerdi board and a stone tile and granite counters. The pics above with the grill set in a wood frame is a house fire waiting to happen.
