This needs to happen. Even if it did, we would still have issues with small batches of racism in our system.
I'm 58 years old and have never met a racist.

There’s two more.
3) Get a job and work.
4) Don’t catch a felony.

Except for the most hard-right on this board, the vast majority of Americans realize there are issues in our criminal justice system when it comes to race.

What do you mean by this statement?
Hmm I thought it was pretty clear.
Most Americans realize we have some issues in this country when it comes to race. Some people, including a number of people who post on this board, think there are either no issues at all, or that those issues are self-induced.

wrong. We have a police state problem, not a race problem
POLICE STATE
Even considering the truth in that, the actions of the police state sometimes are reinforced by racial tendencies of the enforcers. i.e. all police have too much power, and some of them use that power to oppress based on race only.

There are issues with our criminal justice system. But I’m not sure the cure wouldn’t be worse than the problem.
You may be right, but until we hear what the cure is, how do we know for sure?
Posted on 8/28/20 at 4:33 pm to LSUFanHouston
Well, we don’t know what you think the problems are.

Where did your threads go ?
Lol this entire board is a safe space for right wing groupthink. It's a fish bowl built on complaining to the manager like a triggered snowflake and censoring out anything that doesn't conform to the cult. You think that's surprising to me lol

You’re going to have a hard time proving that with data.

not withholding information from police
When certain members of law enforcement use race as an oppression technique, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence needed to give info to that same police.
ESPECIALLY when they know the police can't protect them from retaliation.
Big issue.

What is your definition of systemic racism
When more than a few people practice racism, over a long period of time.
quote:
what laws should we remove or pass to eliminate it?
I don't know... that's why I am asking when we will start seeing proposed solutions.

There are two things you have to do in order to massively decrease your chances of living in poverty or going to prison. They are:
1) Graduate highschool
2) Don't have kids before you're married
That's it. That's the secret to success. Until real efforts are made to increase the number of at-risk youths who fulfill those requirements, nothing is going to change.
100 percent agree.
People like to crap on Lebron... but he is funding a school, isn't he? That's going to help... maybe a small group, but it will help those kids if the school is good enough.

But are the issues the fault of the system, or the individuals involved?

You are a smarter poster than this so I know you understand simple sentences. If you want to challenge some part of my statement, just do it.

Like anything else, it's some of both.
It's up to individuals to fix the individual problems.
It's up to society to fix the system problems.

So when are our politicians, athletes, actors, etc going to start actually proposing real, workable solutions? Solutions that actually both reduce crime and reduce systemic racism?
First please give us a tangible example of systemic racism? (While you are at give me an example of white privilege). I suggest all these millionaires put on a uniform for one week and do ride alongs with local LEOs. I imagine that their tunes would drastically change on things if they witness first hand what LEOs really have to deal with.
Also, you failed to address on key issue. How does less than 6% of a population account for over 50% of ALL violent crimes. We talk about racial profiling but honestly By simply looking at statistics anyone with a marginal IQ has to be more alert when they encounter somebody in that demographic.

Not really. I used the term some. There are some. I didn't use terms "all" or even "majority".
